Thank you for transferring Ida Sailers to me. Also, thank you for the many hours of your day you give to Find A Grave. This is a very useful tool, for people doing family research, made possible by people such as yourself. Namcy

Thanks so much for all the pictures you take.

Hi Gene: A few weeks ago I visited a small family owned cemetery near the base of Linville Falls in Avery County, North Carolina. I found the headstones for Arnold Lee Penland Sr., Clara Penland, Eula Penland, Laura Penland and John Stokes Penland at this family cemetery. You have them listed at a Penland Family Cemetery in Mitchell County, North Carolina. The cemetery I visited was not on Findagrave, so I set up the cemetery under Penland Family Cemetery, Newland, Avery, North Carolina. I didn't add the above mentioned memorials because I thought that you would like to retain ownership of the memorials. And I don't know how to transfer memorial from one cemetery to the other. If you would like to transfer them into the correct cemetery, I will add the pics of each headstone for you. Also, if you are related and would like me to transfer the memorials that I have set up to you, I will be more than happy to do this.
|Jennifer Jones Babuca||RE: Lloyd E Green|
I've never heard her being connected with a McGrimsey, but can see that the question comes from the Death Cert. The writing is pretty illegible and they've grossly misspelled Lloyd's name.
I am confident that Aletha is a McKinney. I am still working on connecting her to a parent (I suspect her father was William A McKinney, but I am looking for more proof to support or disprove that position). Anyway, Lloyd can be found in the 1850 and 1860 censuses as part of the John and Leathy Green households. In the 1850 census, especially, we can connect Lloyd directly to the Green boys who were killed in the civil war. There is a book of compiled civil war letters that includes a mention of William H Green's death in war (William being Lloyd's older brother). The book is titled "Dear Companion" written by a Tisdale descendent. This particular letter describes William's son John L Green accompanying the body home and Lloyd being upset at the funeral. The letter also explicitly names John Green and Aletha McKinney as being William's parents, but the way it is written, I think the author took some liberties in editing the letter to include that information.
There is also record of both Marriage Bond and Marriage Record of a marriage between John Green and Aletha McKinney being married in Dec 1819, three years before the first known child (William H Green) of the couple was born.
I recognize none of this is "smoking gun," but looking at the picture as a whole, it is strong enough to satisfy my belief that Aletha was a McKinney.

On LE Green's memorial (Find A Grave Memorial# 89026303) you question in Bio if he is the son of John and Aletha Green. The answer to that is yes, he is their youngest child. LE Green was my 3 Gr Grandfather, and I'd be happy to supply you with any additional information on relationships.

in Forest Hills Cemetery in Morganton. I am searching for a relative that would know something about him. He is my great uncle and we didn't know where he was for many years until I found information on Ancestry and then found out where he was buried. If you have any further info, please contact me.
In all the records, births deaths and marriages, the family has always spelled the name Hennessee.

Just a thank you for listing the location of this little burial site.
I notice that you note an inscription on Sarah Davis Watkins stone....is it still legible?
And can you tell me where you obtained the information on the interments at this cemetery? I am doing a genealogy on my husband's family and need to note sources.

His death certificate states his name is John Harrison Gibson not William Harrison Gibson. Thank you
