RE: Albert Soper
Hi Nancy,

Sorry for the delay in replying - I have been traveling.

Albert Voss Soper was a son of Lena May Stock (or Stack) and George Soper. Albert's mother Lena was listed as an orphan in the 1900 Census... She was raised by Angeline & Frederick Voss. So Albert is buried between the couple who raised his mother ( adoptive Grandparents ?) Frederick Voss # 95318280 & Angeline # 95318255

Cheers,
Julie

RE: Abram Thomas - Alden Evergreen
Hi Nancy,
I'll try to summarize as it's a hunch based on some findings and connections. I had photographed dozens of plots in Alden Evergreen Cemetery and set up Memorials for the Manassah & Mary Lawrence family. I typically add a census record to my memorials so that I can keep track of people and connect family members. Anyway, there are two "unknown" young children in their household in 1850. Moving on to the next picture I had, I saw a memorial was already set up - it is for Mary Thomas - wife of Abner. Doing a quick search of all Thomas's in Alden, I noticed your Memorial for Abner Thomas and the bio which states the children of the first wife are George & Wesley Thomas. I immediately realized those are the same two children in the Lawrence census in 1850. The memorial is #137786666. I have to believe that Mary Thomas #27667876, is the Mother of the two children, the first wife of Abner, and that her maiden name is Lawrence. It would have been easy to think Wesley's middle name of Lawrence meant Lawrence as in "Larry", but it seems pretty clear now that it's really his mothers maiden name. Given her proximity to the Lawrence monument (both visible in her Memorial photo with the Iron/Zinc Lawrence monument directly behind it), her son Wesley has a middle name of Lawrence, I believe the Thomas children were living with their grandparents after the death of their Mother and you now have your first wife ;) Does that make sense? Abram Thomas - Alden Evergreen
Greetings,
Can you tell me if you are related to Abram whose memorial you created? "He married first unknown. They were the parents of George and Wesley Thomas." I believe I found his first wife - sent through an edit. Have another connection (I think) if this is your family. Would like to talk with you if so. Thanks! Kathi

RE: Clara (Fletcher) Gragg
Nancy, I husband is John Gregory, son of Horace Beverly Gregory, son of John "A" Gregory, son of Stephen Gregory, son of William Gregory, son of Beverly Gregory and Mary McCracken Gregory. Beverly and Mary had three sons: William, John Nelson, and our Stephen. Beverly died in 1839 and Mary married David Ely. William, the oldest, married a neighbor girl, Mary Jane Cox in 1848. They left for Kansas after the birth of their daughter in 1849: Amanda Elizabeth Gregory who married Benjamin H. Gragg. I have not found any other children from the union of William and Mary Jane. There was a short news item in a local paper about Betty Gragg visiting her father's family (the John Nelson Gregorys) 28 years after leaving Indiana. Finding this family was the fulfillment of the dream of my husband's aunt, so was pleased to make the connection but, alas, not before she passed.
