Fallen Graver

Sadly, Ivyplace (Sharon Ivy) has passed away. Please consider visiting their Find a Grave memorial page and leaving some virtual flowers. Their enthusiasm for cemeteries and willingness to help future generations lives on through their contributions to Find a Grave.

Bio

I live in Mills County, TX and am a lookup volunteer for the county, I am also the County Coordinator for the Mills County and San Saba County TXGenWeb Project.

I have gone to most of the cemeteries in the county and taken photo's of headstones, especially the broken ones, the metal markers and sometimes just a stone marking a grave. I started using gps coordinates to identify locations for when the stones are totally broken, the funeral markers are unreadable etc.

I was shocked to see that someone posted my pictures as their own, and added here on Findagrave,

I have complained to the poster but since they have taken so many, including a few gate photos of cemeteries etc. but she was too busy to look and add citations to the photos she took so I sometimes double post a photo with the original photo to show how they cropped it to make it look like I did not take it and I created a private vitural cemetery for them as I find them.

I do feel findagrave is an excellant page to help others locate graves and photos over long distance. I just hate that some of the posters do not read the guidelines and follow them.
