I hope that you found the correct soldier when you were doing your research.
Here is a copy of a note that you left on the above memorial:
died while prisoner of war during the Civil War Andersonville Prison, Georgia
Plot: E, 1140
No Union Soldiers that were buried in Danville National Cemetery Virginia would have died in the Andersonville Prison in Andersonville Georgia. All of them either died in the Danville Prisons or in the hospital that was on a knoll that is the center of this graveyard.
I am hoping that you just looked at your notes and made a mistake. I do believe that prisoners were transferred from the Richmond prisons to Danville at one point but it is highly unlikely that a body would have been transported from Georgia to Virginia in 1865 when the city of Atlanta had been burned and the South was in complete chaos from Sherman's march through the South.
