Hi everyone! |
I love genealogy and believe that many good things can come from visiting local cemeteries and by cleaning them up. The idea of losing some of these smaller sites in Maine and New Hampshire due to vegetation and vandalism worries me. I'm willing to help search for a cemetery if you have a general location!
My family (Eastman, Tyler, Richard, Ellingwood) was based in Oxford county Maine for quite some time but I can't find many of their stones. My plan is to transcribe as many places as I can and hopefully stumble upon some of my "lost" family members.
Our deepest family mystery is what ever happened to Leslie Eastman (1874-1902)? The 1900 census had him in Dixfield and his death certificate has him dying of pneumonia in Rumford but there is no burial location.
I love to help where I can so feel free to hit me up!

Thanks for photographing this headstone. Unfortunately, I don't think it will shed too much light on her life. :) I do appreciate your efforts.
Thanks for the message. I have sent a message to the lady who photographed the grave for the memorial to see if she has any information. It's possible it could be in another cemetery of the same name. Hopefully when I hear from her I can figure it out and put the family where they belong.

Yes, that is not Ye Olde Cemetery. I've tried looking to see if I can't figure it out, but haven't been successful so far. I noticed about two years ago that some photos in this cemetery are not of this cemetery. And, yes, you are correct there are interments that aren't really this cemetery. I've written by Find A Grave message and e-mail to the person that posted them a couple of times now and never get any response. I don't know if they aren't around any more or what.
I do have photos of every stone in that cemetery. Working on trying to make them legible. I work full time and it's hard sometimes to find time to work on these.
Who were you looking for there? I might be able to find them for you.

Thank you for the transfers. Barb

10-4, thanks. Yes, my eyes are blurry now from too much computer time :)

I believe the death year on the gravestone for Hannah Palmer is actually 1847 and not 1817 as is listed on the memorial page.
|Dr. John||Hi cousin|
I ran across one of your memorials this evening and then looked at a few of the Eastman's in your virtual cemetery. I noticed that Ebenezer Eastman (1749-1820) is my 3rd cousin, 5x removed. From which branch of Roger's tree are you a descendant? I am down the Samuel (1657-1725), Ebenezer (1701-1746) line.

The Newcomb memorials are now updated and linked.
Thank you for the smooth and rapid transaction.

That would be great! Thanks.
I am sorry, but I can't even remember which memorials I shared for corrections. Sorry about that. I send out too many at times.
