Welcome! Just to let you know, most of my family roots are in Kentucky; so, if related, I am more than happy to transfer the memorial pages I have created. I love to reunite families with their loved ones. If needed, feel free to use the photographs I have posted on Find A Grave for your personal ancestry documentation. If so inclined, you can always give credit for the source.
I stumbled upon the following poem and thought it was so succinct in describing why we do what we do. . .
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hallowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

I would be happy to transfer if you want.

My mother grew up in Breckinridge County. I have relatives all over the county. I'm not sure if he was a relative, but I am sure he was a family friend.

Please have manager update the memorial with additional information in my memorial before I delete it. I will add picture to her memorial.

Thank you so very much for all of these wonderful treasures. Aaron Gordon was my 5th great grandfather and it is a wonderful find.
Take care and many thanks
Patty, I want to thank you for the two photos you placed on Matthew Rayhill's memorial. It is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the picture of James and Elizabeth Rodman, I appreciate your time and effort. Have a great week.
I guess I have an advantage because I have all the Washington Co cemetery books as well as death records from 1882-1950, the 1850 and 1900 census, some marriage records and bible records. Glad to help. Well back to Michigan and Kentucky game.
Glad to help. I want them to be as complete as possible but did short cut in order to get more names on findagrave. Figured if anyone was interested they would contact me. I always look for additional information when someone does.
Thanks again for contacting me

I am watching the NCAA playoffs and tomorrow going to have company for a few days. Promise I will get to them starting on Friday unless my aunt decides to take a nap which she will not because she want to go photograph tombstones and she does not drive so will not be at home. I promise I will get back to them on Friday because I do want all links done.
And if I forgot to say thank you for contacting me, I will now. Thanks a million.
