My name is Jodie Rowland Williams. I have been working on mine and my husband's family tree for about a year now. F.A.G. has become an awesome site to help with that search.|
Please note that I have two different sets of Collins in my family and so far we have not found a connection between the two. One on my dad's side and one on my mother's side. If you have any questions as to which set of Collins a person belongs to please feel free to ask me!! :)

My family is kin to the Collins of Wilkinson County.Just wondering if you have found Major Collins grave site. I think it is off 96 behind the old Murphy home place. Would love to find the John Lee and his two wives grave site.
|Daniel Dean||Major Croom Collins|
I found a photo of the plaque at Major Croom's traditional burial site and uploaded it to your memorial. I've found it online before, but have never been able to find out its actual location. The guy I got the photo from didn't know, either. I visit Wilkinson county often and have searched for it before, but no one seems to know where this is. If anyone reading this knows, please tell me! I hope you don't mind me adding that photo. Thanks!
|Jacob Kyle Carpenter||RE: Carpenters|
My paternal grandfather is from Erbacon, WV. My ancestry goes back to a Joseph Carpenter who was born c. 1693 in NY. He moved from there to Botetourt Co., VA/WV and eventually sent for his family from NY to join him. His wife's name was Leah; her surname is unknown.
My immigrant ancestor was named William Carpenter, Sr. He immigrated to Hingham, MA from England but eventually went to RI with several other settlers after Roger Williams founded the colony. He married Elizabeth Arnold, the eldest daughter of William Arnold and Christian Peake. William Arnold is an ancestor of the traitor Benedict Arnold.
Joseph's descent from William is unknown, as no records have been found indicating who Joseph's parents were. Claims that he was a son of Nathaniel Carpenter and Tamar Coles have always been unproven and DNA has disproved it. Nathaniel Carpenter was a descendant of William Carpenter and Abigail Searles of Rehoboth, MA. The two Williams are of no proven relation, though DNA has shown that they may have been extremely distant cousins.
