I am the eldest child, eldest grandchild, I was fortunate to have parents and grandparents healthy, alive and keen of memory to tell the family history throughout my youth and early adult life. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas, in the early 1940's, raised in Lake County, Illinois, brought up my family in suburban Cook County, Illinois, and now I am retired on the island of Puerto Rico 00773. I spend many hours in researching the family genealogy and putting the family stories together. My families have "daughtered" out in each of the past 5 generations so historical burial cemetery records and photos of headstones have provided marvelous additional information in giving my historical grandmothers a maiden name and aunts a married name. I like to document old cemeteries in Puerto Rico and in states I visit, giving me a lot of memorials that I have no relation to. So feel free to ask me to transfer any of those memorials to you.|
A Native American Prayer
I give you this one thought to keep -
I am with you still - I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the sweet uplifting rush,
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still in each new dawn.

Patti Jo - I just found an extensive obit for Dr. Van Ornam. I'll add it tomorrow. He will also be added to my v.c. of Physicians and Dentists of M'boro as well as Business, Religious and Civic Leaders of M'boro. Thank you for the heads up about his life.

Thank you for the information which I've added to her memorial. I left the year of birth as 1972 which was on her headstone.
|Ace||Dorothea Wehrs at Forest Home Cemetery|
Hi! I tried looking up her name in the Forest Home (Waldheim German) Cemetery records for May 1906, but I did not see her name.
I hope you will contact the cemetery and obtain her burial plot.
This cemetery DOES NOT help photo volunteers so I cannot obtain the burial plot any other way. If you decide not to contact the cemetery, please remove your photo request.
There are currently over 200 unfulfilled photo requests at this cemetery because the photo volunteers cannot obtain the burial plots.

I can't take credit for the restoration, but I did meet the dedicated worker at the church cemetery who was engaged in cleaning the stones and repainting the inscriptions. If you look at some of the other photographs I took at the cemetery, you will see that his efforts have improved the appearance of many of the markers.

Patti Jo, you are so welcome. It was my pleasure. With the cool weather, it has made it easier to locate headstones. I found Dona and Willie's as well. There is one more listed but it must be covered up by the grass. I plan to go to Oakland next week so I will try to unearthen it. Have a great evening.
