Thank you for the photo of the grave of my oldest ancestor that I can trace. All I know is that she came from Broad River, South Carolina.
Her husband cast her out because she would not go along with his godless ways.
Her brother suggested she indenture the boys, Andreas, abt 9, and Johann, abt 7, to the Moravians in North Carolina, which she did---the mill.
Her birth name was Free or Frey.

Boyles family line
Your great grandmother was my grandmother's great aunt, but we came through Isham Fox Boyles line too. I have a picture of Emily Malinda's brother Columbus Calloway Boyles here on findagrave.com.

We have some exciting American history through our family of Boyles and then East and then Woodson.

Have you researched the Boyles - through Elizabeth East - and found the Woodson's yet? Dr. Woodson was killed by Indian's and his wife Sarah Winston fought off the Indians with help from a schoolmaster or shoe salesman. Their two boys were in the house too when the Indians attacked. Just google "washtub woodson's" and you'll find the story. Jesse James is also from the Woodson line as his middle name is Jesse Woodson James ... Jesse James married his first cousin and her line is also from the Woodson's.

Their gun that they fought off the Indians is supposed to be in a museum in Richmond, VA. I have found a picture of the gun in a display box, on the internet.

Also through the Sarah Winston line - through her line and then through the material side a couple of times .... is traced all the way back to King Duncan and King Malcolm of Scotland. I think it was through the Burge line ...

Voglers
I see you are interested in Vogler. I am tracing some in hopes of finding Morton through Ella Eudora Morton Vogler. Do you know Mortons?

Gordon family
I am researching my wife's family. She is descended from Rowan Gordon who married Alfred Smith of Moore County. Her father is apparently James H. Gordon. I have found James in census with two different wives (or names, anyway), Ann in 1850 and Nancy in 1860. I have found references to James being son of John Gordon and grandson of Thomas Gordon, but don't know how well substantiated his is. Do you have any information on this family and any connection with the Thomas Gordon you have documented on Find-a-Grave? Happy to share whatever I have.

RE: Vogler - Horn Families
Hi Norma,

I'm so glad to hear from you. I was so excited to see the pictures of William Franklin Vogler and Mary Elizabeth. Is that your gg grandfather standing behind her? I actually do not have much information on the Voglers other than what is out there on the internet. My grandmother, Marie Patty Horn (Oct 8,1903-May 19,1990) was the next to the youngest in line of her siblings. She was never big on family history, so I did not get a lot of information from her. She was only 23 when her mother died.

You have her baby sister's tombstone posted as Glendora L Horn. Her name was Glendora Zenobis Horn. My grandmother's other sister, Jessie Lee Horn, was a school teacher in East Bend NC.

My grandmother spoke often of an Aunt "Sugg". This was Tecora Vogler, who was Glendora's and Early Monroe Vogler's sister. Tecora was married to Dr. Wharton G. Leak.

I have not joined Ancestry.com maybe I should. I would love to see the pictures of the Voglers and Horns. My e-mail is bonney@twc.com

Sorry I'm not much help with the Vogler line.

Best Regards,
Bonney
