Bio and Links
Bio Photo The goal should not be ownership - it should be capturing and memorializing the gravestones of generations past.
Mutual civility is the path.

Please submit edits and transfer requests through the edit function. These are typically processed within 24 hours. Any requests left as messages will be ignored. Bio requests that come in via email will take longer. Lengthy emails where we are left to figure out what it is you are expecting us to do will be deleted.

Photos we have uploaded to memorials are 100% photos we have taken. You may use those for your own personal genealogical endeavors. Credit is appreciated if you do use those (common courtesy is all we ask).

After years of active involvement, with many go-arounds with certain members who, to put it frankly, are rude and dishonest and like to play games, we have agreed that the benefits outweigh the idiocy. It seems while guidelines are set forth, some members either don't read them, or perhaps think they don't apply to them.

Our years of setting up memorials and adding photos seem to now be seen as us "being in it only for the numbers." Be advised, if we wanted to be "in" something for the numbers, it certainly wouldn't be Find-a-Grave. We believe in paying back for the info we have obtained from others. If our numbers bother you, get out to your local cemetery and contribute now so you can focus on your own numbers if that's all you're interested in. Families are forever, gravestones, sometimes not so much! Capture them digitally for future researchers.

We do want to thank the many friends we have encountered over the years. There are some that we have connected with many times in many cemeteries and it has been fun getting out and locating your relatives' gravestones.

In light of the many recent numerous concerns, negative complaints, aired in various social media outlets lately, kindly be advised:

We will no longer add transcribed obituraries to memorials we manage due to (a) copyright and (b) privacy of living individuals listed. Recognizing that obituaries do contain information important to genealogical research, summaries of included information will be added if provided with the source information.

We try to avoid. At times, when transcribing a cemetery, it is not always possible to determine if the person is living or not (we've encountered many a gravestone where a death date has never been added). Memorials for individuals who are in fact alive will be removed when requested.

We will NOT list any cause of death. Period.

Per FAG guidelines, links to other websites are not allowed within any memorial.

Allowed photographs on memorials are gravestone photos or portrait photo containing the memorialized individual. The following photos are NOT permitted:
(a) Screenshots and photos from other websites (including census images and the like).
(b) Photos from obituaries
(c) Scans of obituaries, newspaper articles, and similar material.
(d) Photos "lifted" from other memorials within FindaGrave or from another website.
Kindly remember that photos fall within copyright protection laws (even photos used in obituaries). If you did not take the photo yourself, do NOT post it. It's that simple.

Is it too much to just add a note as to how you are related to the memorial you would like transferred to you? Seriously? We believe we are responsible and reasonable in transferring memorials to family members. Be responsible and reasonable in how you request transfers. For those assuming we are only in this for the numbers, if you look at our numbers you will see that we have transferred a number of memorials.

We encourage everyone to set up a family tree at or genealogical site of their choosing to keep track of their family. THAT is the appropriate forum for attaching census records, vital records, etc., etc.

If you are using FindaGrave, please take the time to read through the FAQ section so you understand how the website works. That single act will make playtime much more fun for all.

McAllister's in Bangor Cem.
Thanks for taking a look for me, even though you didn't find anything; the effort was still there. But thanks for taking the picture you did take for me. I am reasonably sure that Daniel & Hiram are related (both those names show up in the census as brothers, then again as moving to Bangor), but I was hoping for a headstone to confirm it.

Again, many thanks!

RE: Barry / Watson / Gallagher
That's very helpful, thanks so much! Great photos too. There were 17 children between the two of them and their first marriages, so I'll most likely be bugging you some more to link the family memorials that you already added. I'm on the West coast, so I couldn't do this without all of these memorials you have added. Thanks -Tim

P.S. Ellen Gallagher's first husband was John Barry (I believe 1866-1901), but there are multiple possibilities in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, so I'm trying to find some records to identify the correct John Barry. It seems his middle initial was I. or J.

RE: Barry / Watson / Gallagher
Hi again! There are a couple of errors we should try to correct, so I apologize for the long note. I can't find the memorial for Ellen Gallagher Barry, it may have been deleted? This is a complicated family, so I'll try to explain ... Ellen Gallagher (1874-1942) was married to John Barry (approx. 1870-1903); they had 3 children. When John Barry died, Ellen Gallagher married John Watson (1863- ?), and they had 8 more children. These Barry & Watson children are my cousins through Ellen Gallagher.

John Watson had been previously married to Ellen Cavanaugh (1963-1903), and they had 6 children.

So, widower John Watson (6 children) married widow Ellen Gallagher-Barry (3 children) and they had 8 more children. Some of the Watson children have been linked to Ellen McLean, who is not their mother.

On the Barry side of the family, there are at least three John Barry's in Mt. Pleasant who could be Ellen Gallagher's first husband; I don't know which one is correct. The John Barry who married Ellen McLean is a different person. The correct John Barry died before 1905.

The Ellen and John Watson you found in Newport can't be the right people because John was still alive in the 1940 census, and Ellen died in 1942, so the dates don't match. It would be great if we can get the Ellen Gallagher-Barry memorial (Mt. Pleasant) back into Find-a-Grave and re-link her children.

Sorry about the work tied to this! It's complicated but interesting due to the large blended family. Thanks! Tim

RE: Jamieson/McCann
These are the people I was looking for, thanks! I have a baptism record for Annie from New Brunswick church records, and found a marriage record for Annie & John on-line, so I will send you some details for her memorial via the edits function. Thanks for your travels and time to collect these photos & records. Tim

Please add Alva York (67626334) memorial to Louis S. York (67626387)memorial and vice versa for they are brothers. That would go under Siblings. Would like to see in the Edit section of the memorials a place to put Siblings.

Thank you for your much appreciated work on this website.

Barry / Watson
P.S. I should have added this:

Ellen Gallagher Barry: Memorial# 120443193

John W. Barry: Memorial# 120443953

Please unlink this John from Ellen Gallagher.

Barry / Watson
Thanks for adding the photo for Ellen Cavanaugh Watson, this was very helpful as it confirms that James and Mary were her children. I'm still trying to locate her husband John Watson's gravesite (he remarried to Ellen Gallagher).

Thanks also for taking the photos of the marker for John Barry and Ellen McLean ... however this is a different John Barry than the one who was married to Ellen Gallagher (not McLean). Could you unlink him from Ellen Gallagher? The correct John Barry was born about 1870 and died around 1903-5, before Ellen Gallagher married John Watson as her second husband. Actually John Barry AND John Watson could be buried near Ellen Gallagher.

Sorry there are so many Ellen's and John Barry's! There are several possibilities in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery for John Barry and I can't figure out which one is tied to Ellen Gallagher.

Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it; this one is a challenge.
