|After retiring, I took over my father's work on my family tree and it led to photographing headstones of my family in Iowa. So I thought, why not help others who live farther away? Plus, I find cemeteries so interesting and peaceful. There's no better feeling being outdoors on a nice day!|
Please feel free to use any of my photos.

Pioneer Citizen Passes.
Early on Sunday morning of last
week, Milton H, Andrews of Burnside
township, northeast of town, up
towards Lehigh, suddenly passed away
from heart failure, taking away one
more of the early pioneers of the Lehigh
community. He was born near
Columbus, Ohio, July 12, 1850, being
71 years, 11 months, 28 days of age at
his death When two years of age, he
came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Hiram Andrews, to Mahaska County,
IA... and from there to Lehigh, or1
'Tyson's Mill" it was then called,
in 1866. On March 19, 1874, he was
united in marriage to Miss Lilly J
Dale of Lehigh. Six children were
born of their union, all passing away
in infancy except one son, Walter, who
together with the bereaved wife survives
to mourn his passing. He also
leaves a sister, Mrs. Libby Allen of
Richland Center, Wisconsin. His funeral
services were held from the home
Tuesday afternoon of last week. Rev.
W. H. Welch of the Lehigh M. E;
Church officiating and his remains
were laid to rest in Oak Grove cemetery
near Lehigh. It was the writer's
privilege to have known Mr. Andrews
practically all of our life. Our families
were usually members of the same pioneer
circle of friends, and he was one
of the active young men of that community
in our childhood. He 'loved
his associates, and always valued the
friends of his active life. His happiest
moments were often spent in visiting
with those who like him had
passed through the privations of pioneer life, and lived to enjoy the fruits
of their toil and sacrifice. A successful
farmer, he lived up to' the best
methods for the development of his
place, and prospered by his industry
and .forethought. Respected by all who
knew him, he leaves a host of friends
in every generation through which life
permitted him to pass, and their sympathy
is with the widow and the son
in their hour of bereavement.

|Mr. Badger Hawkeye||RE: Phyllis Strom|
I have sent an email to Find A Grave asking for a merger of the two memorials.
|Edwin Sherwood||Theodore Burr Van Avery|
We found Theodore Burr Van Avery in the Edinburgh Cemetery and added his headstone photo to his memorial. I also notified Jim Dayton that the Clarkville memorial cemetery was wrong.
|Edwin Sherwood||Theodore Van Avery|
We looked for Theodore Van Avery and could not find him. Since he died in 1940, the stone should have been easy to find and read. There were some newer Van Avery stones, but none for Theodore. Is it possible that he was buried in the other Edinburgh cemetery?
|M. Richards||Thank You for the Higgins transfers|
Thank you ever so much for transferring Roy and Olga Higgins memorials. I have added bios and made links to family. Thanks for posting the memorials in the first place. Your time and effort are greatly appreciated. I have added you to my friends. You are a wonderful addition to Find A Grave.
Sorry Gail, I forgot the memorial number for William Blake. Memorial# 92290405
