First off....FEEL FREE TO USE MY PHOTOS OF HEADSTONES in your family trees...they're the last photos taken of our loved ones' time on this earth....The writing on headstones will fade over time but these pictures on findagrave will not.....|
I've been doing our family genealogy for about 6 years now. I started my journey by looking for the ship my Grandfather came over from Yugoslavia on. I had the information on my Grandmother, but I could never find Grandpa's. Two days ago, on November 10, 2006, I finally found it!!! What a joyous moment for me! Because of my quest to find my family, I've been able to trace my husband's family back to Stephen Flanders (thanks to all the Genealogy books and family trees by Flanders family members), the Mansfield's back to Samuel (1804), and the Wolff's (Wolf, Wolfe) back to the 1700's. What a journey! I am really hooked now on finding our family. All four of my Grandparents were born in Yugoslavia and Lithuania. My parents are the first generation American. Needless to say, it's going to take me a lot longer to find MY roots! I really enjoy walking through cemeteries and taking pictures of unique headstones and the headstones of veterans. I take a picture of EVERY headstone of Flanders, Wolf, Wolfe, Wolff, Mansfield, Josephites, Josephitis, Juozapaitis, Altabas and other family names that may be relatives, because I know that someone--somewhere--is also looking for them. If you are a relative of any of my postings and want me to add family information, please e-mail me. I know how important the names of spouses, parents and children are to genealogists..so any information on my postings are a big help!

Donna, John Schaeffer Mansfield was my uncle. Are you and I related?
Thanks Donna for the edit approvals. I'm sure it gets tedious at times. Regards, Alan

|Ray Britt||Your Vietnam Veteran, Brother|
Going back and reading a message you sent, I overlooked one important thing, which I did not mean to do.
Please know that as a Vietnam War Veteran, your brother and I are brother-in-arms, regardless what branch of the military he served, just like any other Vietnam Veteran that served.
As a military brother, he continues to have my deepest and sincerest respect for the sacrifices he gave to this country, whether no one continues to share this to him or not. I always attempt to share this to whomever.
So sorry I overlooked that part of your message, but then, I had a whole lot on my mind. That is no excuse, however.
Please share this with him, if your brother is still alive. Losing up to 300 per day, there should not be too many of us left.

Mary is an Atwood. Again, let me know if this is getting annoying!

I guess I might as well go big or go home Donna. Ditto on this Atwood if you're inclined.

Hi again Donna. I was in the process of linking family bios in Find A Grave and was wondering if you'd mind transferring Nellie to me as well? Please do let me know if I'm being pushy; I don't mean to. Alan

Thank you Donna, for the transfer as well as your comments about my service to this country.
My service began when I was 17 years old, ended when I was 24 years old. I am proud of my accomplishments as an outstanding and devoted Marine, all during the Vietnam War years.
I must say also, thank you for all those you have helped, along the way. An outstanding service to America, as well!
Deep respect your way, from me.
Hello Donna, I am the Atwood that Sgt. Britt wrote you about. I live within a few miles of Jefferson and Silent Home Cemeteries were many of my Atwood ancestors are interred. I don't know if you are willing to transfer any of their memorials to me, but if you are, I'd be honored to receive them. I, like Sgt. Britt, appreciate all the work you've put into helping people preserve their ancestry. Please feel free to contact me. My member number is #48108994. Sincerely, Alan Atwood
