Bio and Links
Bio Photo Additional information and corrections are very welcome. Feel free to use my headstone photos too.

If anyone wants to take over the management of their family's memorial from me, just ask. As long as you're related to the deceased, that's good enough for me. Please remember to include your Find A Grave ID number when requesting the transfer.

Please do not post complete obituaries on my memorials (too many problems with people's privacy and copyright infringement). Paraphrasing the main points from an obituary is great, and I'm happy to add that if you forward it to me using the Edit tab.

And finally...

From the Amador Ledger (Calif.), November 2, 1900:
THE TRANSLATION. On the gate of the cemetery in Rio de Janeiro is a notice in Spanish, French, and English that no dogs are admitted unless led by the owner. This is how the announcement is made in English: "Noble mesdames and gentlemen who may desire a dog to follow in this tombsyard will be permission unless him drawn by a cable round him throttle."

Veteran's Section - Calvary
Kathie,
Only added a handful of memorials in this section back in January - wandered here and there. Have not re-visited the area since our last communication.

If you could, that would be great, I'd like my parents to as well, if that's possible, could you help with that?

Surname identified
Thank you for identifying "Ada" Clark Sherburne Banvard as Marion Ada Clark Banvard, and not only as Sherburne as the cemetery and headstone did. A distant cousin of Emigrant Gap's Louis H Banvard, I do appreciate being able to identify her place of rest.

RE: Joseph Parenti (or Parentice)
Great Work!

what kind of notice was it for Nellie? was it a newspaper clipping?

I believe her first husband was Benjamin Charles Ferguson (FindaGrave 29643267-- although the 1900 census has him as Daniel C Ferguson.) So either the 1900 census has a typo or perhaps I don't have the genealogical lines quite right.

One of my sources is the Wixom Family History book
by Wixom and Widdison. Benjamin Charles Ferguson's Mother was Clarissa Jane Wixom Ferguson -- and I am descended from a brother (Willard)of Clarissa. The book (p.252) has Benjamin Charles Ferguson married to Nellie Berry with the 4 children -- then Benjamin dies in 1905 and the book says that Nellie moved to SF and since no one of the Wixoms had heard anything from Nellie and the kids, it assumes that they died in the 1906 earthquake. Well, we now know that they did not die in the earthquake :)

Thanks again, Kent

Joseph Parenti (or Parentice)
thanks for adding the news clipping to his
FindaGrave Memorial (135992870) -- it really
adds to the material I've found elsewhere about
him and his families.

Do you know where his second wife (Nellie Berry Ferguson Parenti) is buried? I think she might have died late in 1910.

Thanks Again,

Kent Parsons
Los Alamos NM

(I am a very distant cousin of Nellie Berry's first husband (Ferguson) -- Nellie and Joseph apparently married (1910 census) after the death of her first husband in 1905, and the 1906 earthquake -- Joseph had been a laborer on the Ferguson ranch (1900 census) and was a widower, having lost his first wife Ida a few years earlier)

Kathie,
Your plan for a link sounds fine.

I was mostly taking photos at Calvary Catholic Cemetery of the large expanse called "Calvary Lawn". Think I took a few photos at the Veteran's section a year or two ago, but will concentrate on the other areas. Thanks for checking on the Zien memorial.
