I have been working on family history now for 35 years. I am originally from Lancaster, SC now residing in Columbia, SC. I have travelled the country looking for grave sites related to Youngs, Steeles/Steels, Heglers, Williams, Stewmans, Dentons, McCains, Blackmons, Stogners, Finchers, Manns, Lowerys, Hartsells, Miskelleys, Catoes, McManus', McAteers and others. Any information on any of these families will always be appreciated. Thanks to all those who have been so great at helping and transferring and leading me to the right places to get the family together. (Sorry if I ask for the aunts, uncles, cousins, the great aunts and great uncles and the such. They are family and if you are not related I don't understand the problem.) I do not mind transferring any memorial that I've created that is not in my family group(except for spouses) Please email or leave a public message, Thanks ever so much again. PS- an occasional statement has been made about the number of memorials managed vs created. I have requested to manage a number of memorials of a family member who passed away in order to keep the work up on the family history.|

I hate to keep bugging you, so if I am let me know, it won't hurt my feelings. I promise. I talked to my " know it all sister " and she told me that the man we knew as Uncle Jud was indeed named Clyde Judson Hindman. He also passed away in 2012 and he also worked at DuPont for awhile later in life. She thought he was the police chief in Fort Lawn, but knew he was an officer of some type. He was indeed married to a woman named Pat, but didn't know her full name and thought that she had a daughter prior to marring Jud. She also said that she remembered that she was pretty sure Jud had a brother by the name of Johnny Hindman. Pat apparently passed away before Jud according to my sister and Chuck was a nickname for Clyde Judson Hindman as well. She wasn't too sure about Jr. or if Chuck was a " III rd "or not. Tammy was the oldest and her name is actually Tamala Jane Hindman. Shannon was the youngest and she wasn't sure what his full name was. I think he is two years younger than me, so he would be about 42.
As far as the Lucas family, there where 12 brothers and sisters total. She was sure that Eva Mae was the oldest and Shelvadean was the baby. Our Mom was next to the last. We think that our mother was about 15 when our Grand mother passed away. He, Charles Lucas remarried , but had no more children.She thinks this is the correct order, but not real sure. I will list them as Lucas' to keep it simple
They are Eva Mea Lucas who lived in Lando,Pauline or Polly Lucas who we think lived in Greenville,, Banks Lucas which I think is Charles or Charlie Lucas, Uncle Tug, which we both didn't know his official name right off hand , William Lyle Lucas all of whom lived in Great Falls, Aunt Nell, Aunt Jean or Eujeana Lucas who lives in Fort a Lawn now, Aulton Roscoe Lucas who was married to a nice lady named Macie , Aunt Genny , Aunt Wayne who actually is named Shirley Wynn, Caroline JoAnn Lucas, and Shelvadean of Fort Lawn. Caroline JoAnn Lucas was our mom and she is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.
She said that our mother was tricky as she was listed in three or four ways, that's my mom I guess, the tricky one. My sister said it could be either Caroline JoAnn, Joann, Jo Ann, or she may be listed with the last name of Robinson, her first husband and my sisters real Dad, she's my half Sister, they had two children, Robert Reeves Robinson (deceased) and Robin Renee Robinson. Robin is the one giving me this info. After their Dad passed away, she married my Dad, James Curry Young Jr., who was married before to a Vivian Tyson. They had three children, Tony, Timothy and a daughter named Gail. They devorced and he married my Mom and I was the only child of that marriage. After my father passed away, we moved to Norfolk where she lived with and finally married a Clarence E. Sanders they had no kids together.So that's a lot of info to process.
She is going to send me some stuff she has paid someone to search for her, mostly looking for stuff on her Dads side. But she has all of their (The Lucas') full birth names and Baptismal records.
I am not sure if this is intriguing information to you or if it conflicts with what you have. When I get the stuff she is sending me, I'll send you a copy to your private "Texas" email address.
Hope all is well and I'll let you ponder over this info more if your interested. Robin is driving to Fort Lawn tomorrow to take Aunt Wayne to the Dr. so she,Aunt Wayne,would know more about the Hindman's.
Well I'll let you rack your brain over this if you want to, I thought maybe this info might help you out. I don't want you to think that I am trying to get you to do all the work here, that is not my intention at all, this started out mostly because your last name is "Young " and I thought maybe we where or are somehow related. Especially since you have photographed so many of my family members and created pages for them as well. I so appreciate your passion for doing so. Like I mentioned, if you need any photos from this area, just let me know, I have free time and like road trips. Sounds like you have covered the area, but I am willing to travel outward quite aways even if I don't find anything.
Talk at you later and have a good week. I'll get back with you in the next few days.

It has changed very much in the 15 years I have been here. Killeen is like Austin now, except it's worse because they didn't plan the roads to handle the traffic. Construction and road work everywhere. Houses are going up buy the hundreds and restaurants that you use to have to go to Austin to enjoy are here and in temple along I35.
I haven't talked to my sister yet, she would know about uncle Jud. He and Shelvadean may not have ever been married. I do know that last time I saw him ( Jud ) was in 2004 when my mom passed away. Boy, that was a hard one for me. We where best friends as well as mother and son. I do know that uncle Jud had also been remarried or married to a nice woman for quite a long time. He might have passed away since I last spoke with either one of my aunts in Fort Lawn. He use to go by there house every so often to check on them as they are getting up there in age. I can remember that he had a dark complexion and I think at some point he was either a police officer or sheriff there in Fort Lawn in the 70's or later.
I feel the same way about people, I just kind of talk everything with a grain of salt and like you said, let them be. Life's too short to be a jerk all the time. I never judge people on their looks or beliefs,I usually find out the hard way that some people you meet are just unfriendly or more often crazy as loons.
I do know that Shelvadean had three children, a daughter named Tammy, and two sons, Chuck and Shannon. Chuck was the oldest. They all went by Hindman.They may have never been married for all I know. That's the funny thing about digging in the past, you find things you never expect, or secret stuff that you can't believe. I guess that's what makes it interesting. We are all human, we all make mistakes, and we are all cut from the same cloth.
I will call my sister tomorrow, I called this afternoon and she is never home or she is out and doesn't have her cell phone with her. She would know more about Chuck and Tammy better than me because they are her age, Shannon is the youngest and he's about my age. But I am sure Chuck is a nickname, and she would know what his birth name is.
Montanna and Colorodo are beautiful states. I have a timeshare in Steamboat Springs. It's a fixed week on the Forth of July weekend. It's about a four hour drive from Denver, but it's so nice in the summer. Haven't been out there in a couple of years, but I am planning to go soon. I can trade it , but I think timeshares are heading south as the economy has as well.
You have a good one and I'll make some calls in the morning to see if either of those two names match, but the second one sounds about right. I should keep in touch better with my family there, but time flies by so fast. I'll be talking to ya soon,
James C.Young III

Located in Killeen, Fort Hood , Temple area. It's about 40 minutes to Austin to the south and about the same to Waco. Interstate 35 is a mess these days so it's always a gamble. They have traffic jams that last three to four hours. Still love this state. Most beautiful Sunsets I've ever seen.
I had an Ancestory.com account for awhile. I lost interest when I asked a few members questions and they didn't want to give me answers. My Mom's name was wrong on one thread and I inquired about it. I got a nasty response from the member. I understand that it is a long and tedious process, but I knew that all the brothers and sisters listed where the right "Lucas" family line. I respect that the person was hesitant about change, as I had only been tracing the family for a few weeks and the user had 5 years invested. My uncle Judd Hindman was married to Shelvadean Lucas. My middle name is Curry. That's what the C. in all of our names stands for on the Young side.
My great grand father,James Young , not real sure on the date, married a Curry. That name carried to my grandfather and down to me. As a child I had red hair and my grandfather, James Curry Young Sr. that died in 1971 who most likely is the same one you are talking about, loved the fact that I had bright red hair like the Curry side of the family. It's darker and grayling in my beard and hair. It will get reddish in the summer though. My dad died on Dec.24,1974 or 75. It's hard to keep up with the dates without getting out the paperwork. I do know that James C Young Sr. died right after I was born in 1970. I think it was 1971 because he died just a few years earlier than my father. My fathers nickname was " Chinck" for some reason and worked for J.P. Stevens like everyone in Great Falls did.
My mother married James C. Young Jr. and somewhere along the way she started going just by JoAnn Young, but I do know her first name was Carol and somewhere along the line she dropped it as she disliked that name. I'll look back at what I have here and get back to you on the dates. I do know that she was the sister of Jean Benton, Shelvadean Hindman, Alton Lucas, Lyle Lucas,and Nelle Lucas, and there are a total of I think 11 or so. I have a half sister that keeps up with most of this stuff better than I do. The only two I know that are still living of the Lucas sisters is Jean and Shirly Wynn or Aunt Wayne as we called her. They live in Fort Lawn still.
I did more searching on the "Young" side of the family as it was more of interest to me for some reason. Your profile picture looks like beautiful country as well, where was that taken.
Thanks for the reply, I'll get out my stuff I printed and check the names more closely. Good talking to you and you have my personal address, I think on my main page, if not I'll send it to your email. I am bad about checking emails do if you don't hear from me for a day or two, it's just I'm doing something else. I'm not real great at deciphering all the Ancestory stuff, so I lose interest in it as I hit dead ends and get aggravated.
You take care and I'll research some of those other names you sent me. Who knows, we might be closely related or total strangers, but either way, I'll still be friends with you. Just my nature to like people.
James Curry Young III
|James C. Young III||Thank you very much.|
I've noticed that you have either photographed or created memorials that relate to several members of my family on both sides.
My name is James C.Young III. My father was James C. Young Jr. and my mother was JoAnn Lucas Sanders. She was married to my father James C.Young Jr. and we lived in Great Falls until around 1976, shortly after my father passed away. We then moved to Norfolk VA. I lived there until late 1999. I now live in Central Texas. I think you also created or photographed my aunt Shelvdean Hindmans' marker in Lancaster and most recently my favorite unle Aulton Lucas who passed away in late 2013 in Lancaster. I realize that "Young" is sort of like "Jones" as far as people are related. Just wondering if you are somehow related to me by chance? I have heard that there are two branches of the "Young" family name in this general area. My mother's side of the family is the Lucas' that are mostly buried in Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls. My grandfather on the Young side and His wife Maggie Bishop Young , are to my knowledge , also buried in Greenlawn.My Father for some reason decided he wanted to be buried in Ross Ebenezer Cemetery in Chester Co. His brother was Franklin Bishop Young of Blackstock who recently passed away. I did not know him that well as I was young when we moved to Norfolk,VA. I remember him, but not as well as other family members.
Mostly I would just like to say "Thank You" for the time and dedication you have put into this site. It means a lot to me as living in Texas is not a short drive to Great Falls. If you are looking for any grave sites here in Central Texas, let me know an I will try to find out some information.
Thanks again, James C.Young IIII

Can you tell me who is on the other side of the your picture of her tombstone?
Would it be James Edward?
|ღJillGP💕||RE: John E. Blackmon|
Thanks a bunch. I don't think he is my guy. None of the other names sound familiar, and the one I'm looking for is from Mullins/Marion area of SC. But I really appreciate you getting in touch with me, and letting me know. :)

|H. Eddins||Irvin Williams|
According to my family information, Irvin Williams was my grandmother's brother. Their father was William H. (Dave) Williams (1828-1917) and their mother was Mary Etta Ricketts Williams (1847 - 1909). Irvin's siblings were:
Alfred Baucom Williams m. Sallie Williams (cousin).
Martha Ann Williams m. Samuel Williams (cousin).
Melvina Williams m. James Riley Eddins (These are my grandparents.)
James Ellis Williams m. Sallie White.
You can double check all this information before adding it to Irvin's information. Death Certificates should be available on all these folks if they died in North Carolina, since they began requiring them around 1913 or 1914.

Charles M Williams #56814109 was my brother in law. I thought I would let you know he is not buried at Liberty Hill/Taylor Cem. as per tombstone. He remarried & moved to Texas were he died & was buried. His children do not know were

|respects life||Anna(ie) Hutchinson|
Hello there ! I have taken on the task to photograph your grave requests of the Hutchinsons. I called the office of the cemetery and the woman I spoke to said there is no Anna H. but there is an AnnIE Hutchinson. I assume they are one and the same. The office worker told me there is not a record of a Joseph Hutchinson, but a J. Hutchinson was the one who bought the 4 grave sites back in 1941 I think she said for $30 LOL...
The worker told me there are several Hutchinsons on the roll and she hopes I have the correct ones. She said I may find Joseph buried next to Annie...
|Peka||Otto W. Faulkenberry|
