Bio and Links
Bio Photo To the people on Ancestry.com (or anyone else) that use the pictures and documents on the memorials I have added:
At "least" leave a flower and if you have a picture of the person "please" add it to the memorial. Be a giver and not a taker only. Find A Grave is about sharing and working together.

I descend on my father's side from Thomas Tinsley who died 1716 in Essex County, Virginia and his wife Sarah Jackson; on my mother's side from Roger Delke who came on the Southampton Feb. 1623/24 and his wife Alice.

I was born in Cincinnati (Elmwood Place), Ohio. I was never interested in family history until I went to live with my mother and brother in Great Falls, Montana in 1990. I was so bored I decided to start working on my family history and used the information my aunt Lillian (Campbell) Delk had given me back in the 1960's to get started. I started at the Great Falls Genealogy Society, which also provided classes, and then on to the LDS Family History Center in Great Falls.

Long before the computer age my mother and I would stop at cemeteries when we were on one of our road trips to look at the headstones, but never dreamed of taking pictures of them, except for one when we were in Chicago, because it was so unusual, and is shown as my bio picture.

My mother died in 2005 and my brother died in 2010 and I moved back to Ohio and now live with my son and his wife in Fairfield, Ohio (north of Cincinnati). I've joined the computer age since I've been back here, and Find A Grave is one of my favorites.

My sources for making memorials are the old newspapers at Kentuckiana Digital Library Home; Lincoln County, Kentucky Genealogy; Rootsweb Presents Kentucky Death Records; Lincoln County, Kentucky Tombstone Inscriptions & 1850 Census by Shirley Dunn; Bicentennial History of Waynesburg, Kentucky and Southern Lincoln County; and Pulaski County KY Cemetery Records, 3 vols.

I include as much information on the memorials that I can find so others that are searching can determine if it is the correct person they are looking for. A memorial with name, birth & death dates isn't always enough information to determine if it's the right person you are looking for. Some birth dates I have taken from the age of a person in their obituary which isn't always correct and just because dates are written in stone doesn't always mean they are correct either.

~~~~The newspaper images at Kentuckiana Digital Library are in the public domain and can be used on Find A Grave. They ask that credit be given to the Kentucky Digital Library as the source for the images. For those who want to use these newspapers go to Kentuckiana Digital Library Home and click on newspapers. ~~~
For the people that think you need a picture of the tombstone for every memorial - not everyone has a tombstone and this is not Find A "Tombstone." Sometimes the only way to Find A "Grave" is from an obituary. Many tombstones have been removed from cemeteries that were on farmland because the land was later used for farming and tombstones have been damaged or destroyed by farm animals and people. Some old cemeteries have been bulldozed so the land can be used for something else. I even read about a woman that removed a tombstone from one cemetery and put it in another cemetery. This is one of the reasons why I try to do as much research as I can on the memorials I make. Many contributors require proof of relationship before links are made. I consider birth, marriage, obituaries and family relationships that are included on my memorials as proof of relationship.
I would also like to add that not all of us are able to get out and walk through the cemeteries but we still have something to contribute to Find A Grave even if you don't like the way we do it.
I am only notified when photo requests for tombstone pictures are fulfilled but not when others are added to the memorials and I "really appreciate" all of them BUT if they can't be read because they are covered with dirt, grass & leaves they are of little use. Please take the time to clean the bird poop, dirt, leaves & grass off so the stone can be presentable.
Cyrus Curtis Taylor # 103234330
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if Cyrus Taylor's wife, Mary Coutant Taylor, is buried by him? She died in 1859 and I've been unable to find her. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Linda
Thanks!
Thanks for all the information. My great-grandparents (x5) were John Lucas and Sarah Jones - my great grandmother was Lilly Myrtle Lucas (I'm still trying to add all the records and pictures to Find-A-Grave). I was born and raised in Missouri, where I still live, but coincidentally I graduated from college at the University of Montana in Missoula. Based on your research, we are distantly related. Again, many thanks for all your research!
Baughman
Joyce - You have added newspaper clippings to the memorial #3435567 - Sally Harris Baughman - I recently acquired a photo of her gravestone from the Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Lincoln Co., KY - however I am unable to post it due to the memorial being at its limit - is there any way that you can connect the clippings that you have posted and make them fewer than 5 articles?
I have been posting many photos of gravestones in the last couple of weeks and a lot of them have been from the Buffalo Springs Cemetery. When you have time - you may want to check a few of them out, as you might find some additional information to add to the memorial you manage.
Thanks for all the hard work you do on Find A Grave I seem to see your additions on many memorials - THANKS.
Welch Skidmore
Joyce - do you have a death date for Wesley Craig Skidmore - I have no record of him being killed by his brother John H. Know he was born in 1858. How old was he when he died? I have no additional info on Welch.
You amaze me with all the info you are able to find and post - thanks for all you do - you have been a tremendous help for me.
RE: Brock
Short answer: No. However, I have done some research on Richard Brock. I am a descendant of Jesse Brock, Revolutionary War soldier from Harlan County, Kentucky.
