Bio and Links
Bio Photo Native of Greenup Co. Kentucky but a resident of Mississippi. Became interested in graveyards as a evaluator for a professional development program concerning teaching American History. Grave yards can be used as primary sources to engage high school students in discovering their communities history. Also I have a personal interest in preserving the graveyards (Mt. Zion and Thomson in Greenup Co.) where many of my family members are buried. These helpers include my sister Natalie and cousins.

RE: Foster/ Mt.Zion
Hi Donna;
"are the Foster family members buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Greenup Co., KY ancestors of yours?"
That is a very good question that I can not answer at the moment. I have been helping another person that is a descendant of Seth Foster of Gallia/Jackson County, Ohio. His father was said to be John Foster from (maybe West) Virginia that served in the War of 1812 and supposedly died about 1828 in Gallia County.
If these Fosters are related, they would be on my mom's side. Now the question I have to ask a cousin on my dad's side from Missouri, is why she left flowers for Nimrod Foster, # 8134704 the father of John B Foster in Greenup. BTW this john also served in the War of 1812.
She might be able to tell me if they are somehow related. Otherwise, I am not aware of any direct Foster ancestors.
If I find out, I will let you know.
No offence intended but why do you ask?
Thanks for contacting me

Danville, KY Eifords
Hi Donna,

My grandmother's maiden name was Eiford. Her father, Charles Earl Eiford, was born in Greenup County. I'm 99% positive that his father used the spelling Eifort*. I believe that Charles E. was a descendant of Sebastian Eifort (Memorial# 87131513) through his son John (Memorial# 95877883) and John's son Lewis Sebastian. However, the only information we've been left with is that Charles' father was "Sebastian" and mother was "Leona Bell Keaton" (who I can't seem to find anywhere). I also know that Charles E. Eifort of Danville, KY acted as the informant on the death certificate of Lewis Sebastian Eifort, but of course that's not concrete proof of a father-son relationship. Do you by any chance have any information about this branch of the Eifort/Eiford family tree? Thank you!
