How to find oldest graves (thanks Mike Maxton!)
1) Begin a new search
2) In the last name field, enter 123.
3) Check the box for "Do partial name search on surname".
4) Choose BORN BEFORE 1840.
5) Choose DIED AFTER 1400.
These are a little counter-intuitive. The death year after 1400 (you can vary this some, if you like) is EXCLUDING all the unknown death years. But if we just did those death years, we would be looking at hundreds of thousands of records, so we narrow it further by adding BORN BEFORE 1840. If you are looking at a County that is very old, you may want to narrow the search even further by changing to BORN BEFORE 1820 or older.
6) Choose a State and a County. You can't do the complete US or a state, in most cases. Your query will time out before you get any results.
7) Choose order by death date.
If you haven't over-loaded the servers, you'll get a result in about 60 seconds.
just add &GSob=d to the end of a cemetery's url ... sort cemetery by death date ... likewise, use &GSob=b to sort by birth date.

Many many thanks!
|Dave Hansen||RE: Barton Street Cemetery|
Glad to help, I have to be honest. They graveyard wasn't on find a grave until I entered it all in 2014. I can only assume that the person who created those memorials somehow had them associated with a different cemetery and changed that association later on. I believe all of those previously listed her were reintured in the Fredericksburg city cemetery when they built on the site.
Anyway, thanks for pointing out the duplicates. I hope your work on findagrave continues to go well.
|Michael Hague||Richard Vestal @ Grove Presbyterian Cemetery|
Edwin, thanks for the cemetery correction for Richard Vestal. He is now in Grove Presbyterian Cemetery per his obituary.
You do have the right to create a memorial, post your bio information, add pictures and ask for the memorial in the incorrect cemetery to be deleted based on Find A Grave guide lines of that memorial being over the 30 day limit for placed in the correct cemetery.
If you want to create a memorial for Richard Vestal and add your pictures feel free to do so and I will delete my memorial. The choice is yours... Michael

Please confirm that you are satisfied with the updates.

|Mary Kay Frank Armstrong||RE: Claire M Bassett|
Hello Edwin. Claire's father was Joseph Leiper McLane, who was a brother to my husband's grandfather, John Taggart McLane. I have been doing genealogy research for many years and have found that the most complete information is the most helpful for those researching. Incomplete info can cause "walls". In 100 years, researchers will most appreciate the most accurate info. that we are now adding to online sites.
Thank you for hunting for her burial site. We'll have to see if we can actually identify the plot. I appreciate your time.
