Bio and Links
Bio Photo I enjoy history, and learning about how people migrated and settled this land, and just generally getting out and exploring. I like to bike and hike, and I consider it a nice rounded day when I enjoy a little botany, some geology, maybe cross a historic bridge and then visit a cemetery. I hope the memorials and photographs I post help families connect. I hope others are doing the same for my ancestors in the distant places I am unable to visit. I'm always happy to share photos for genealogical use (not-for-profit).

When contacting me about a SPECIFIC MEMORIAL please use the EDIT button on the memorial. When you do this, it emails me a direct link to the memorial, and it makes it so EASY to make corrections or add additional information. When posted to my profile page, I have a hard time figuring out which memorial you are writing about. As I tell folks in my office, when faced with multiple requests, I usually go for the easiest one to fulfill first so if it's important to you, make it easy for me.

NOTE/DISCLAIMER. I travel some for work, have occasional health disruptions, have similar computer disruptions, so sometimes, I'm slow to act/respond. Sometimes I'm just chasing another interest/life pursuit. Please be patient, and, I don't mind reminders at all. Sometimes, I make typos too. Just send me an EDIT note and forgive my clumsy keyboarding.

Bill Rechtermann #101264448
Mark,
I just send an edit for Bill's sister.

Fredrick William "Bill" Rechtermann is indeed the son of Henry Rechtermann. However, Bill was born of his father's first marriage.

I would like to quote Alice Rechterman Clark from her genealogy written 1989. "While in Ohio he" (Henry Rechtermann) "had been united in marriage with Miss Rosena Welker, a young lady residing in that State. Two children blessed this union, William F. and Carrie, who is now the wife of Augustus Rabeos (Rabius).

Our subject was married a second time, in 1867, in La Fayette County, Mo., the year after making his home there. The present Mrs. Rechtermann was Miss Anne Knopf, a native of Prussia..."

Thank you.

Carrie Rabius #30666403
Mark,
I just sent an edit regarding Carrie's parents. She is indeed the daughter of Henry F. Rechtermann. She, however, is one of the two children from his first marriage. Her mother was living in Ohio and married Henry there. Her mother is Rosena (Welker) Rechtermann. I cannot find her in findagrave at this time.

I have just created a memorial for Carrie's spouse. Would you be so kind to share your wonderful photo of the headstone shared by Carrie and Gus with his memorial #149183443.

Here is hoping that you can read Gus's birth and death dates on the headstone. Please add them at your convenience to his memorial.

Thank you for your contributions.

Nancy Cockrell Walker
I found the marriage record for Nancy Cockrell to Samuel Walker, 24 Jan 1825 in Bourbon Co., KY. It lists her father as PETER B. Cockrell, not Thomas. You can find the record at FamilySearch if you'd like to verify. I'm just letting you know so you can correct the information on her memorial. Thank you!

Greetings :)
Hi Mark...

Was wondering if you were still active?

Wanted to give you an FYI... there is a new EDITS tab on your profile page that is now a 1-click option to doing SACs. Didn't know if you'd seen it yet (I sent you some).

Have a great day :)

Thank you so much for updating the memorial for our paternal Great Aunt Grace Brown McCracken. It is a special joy to see this large family linked together on Find a Grave for future generations to find and enjoy, just as we are today. We appreciate all your work. Warmest wishes for a happy New Year!

Hey Mark, I noticed that you have added a lot of personal photos to a lot of my memorials. Example: Howletts.
I just wanted you to know that except for a few Andersons and a few Snipes, very distant, I am not related to another single person there.
I am just trying to document the cemetery. Also, I have no problem whatsoever in transferring family.
Let me know if you want anyone transferred.
