I am a retired engineer who spent career working in Houston, TX at oil & gas equipment design.|
My early years/schooling were in Files Valley, TX, just east of Itasca in Hill County, TX. There is a cemetery there that my Dad kept records on in spiral notebook. After his death, I realized that the notebook with all his notes on who was buried where was lost. In 2007, I began recording the Files Valley Cemetery with friends living in the area. When we completed that, and uploaded to internet websites, we proceeded to add memorials to many cemeteries in NE Hill County.
Bonnie (Wife) and I have been researching our families - McEver, Robinson, Allen, Pruett, & Jordan.
My interest in genealogy comes from making contact with special distant cousins, Maurice Allen, Vicki Bullard and others. We've created a family tree at ancestry.com website.
A final thought on what FindAGrave means to me. It is an excellent tool for preserving the documentation (memorializing)of those who have gone before us. To this end, it doesn't matter to me who owns photos, copyrights, etc. Feel free to use what I provide to FindAGrave for the purpose stated above. It would be nice to receive recognition.

|Ron Idom||RE: Mollie Evan Memorial in Itasca Cemetery|
Thanks for the note. I am attempting to clean up and link the Thaxton line in my family tree. Many of the females such as Mollie were buried under their married name and thus future searchers could not find those memorials. My paternal grandmother was a Thaxton.

Thank you so much for transferring Nelson and Margarett Witten to me and for doing it so fast! Thanks for all you do help build this resource for all of us.
|Lisa & Sam Witten||RE: Jordan Connection|
My great grandmother was Sarah Etta Jordan, daughter of William Terrell Jordan. The lived in the Josephine area of Collin County. It's always possible we're related somewhere. I haven't gotten back as far as William Terrell in adding siblings yet.

|Kara Haygood Geilman||Allen Family|
Also, forgot to mention, we are also related to the Allen family and Scott Families, Allens have married in several times, Currently Virginia Allen Haygood is my first cousin Garland Ray Haygood's Wife. I also have Allens on the Davenport side of the family from whitney Tx. Robert "Bobby" and Earl Allen; Also relate to the Whitney family of Hill county and Ward family.

Seems a lot of the people in the Itasca cemetery are my Kin, still cant locate a grave stone for My 3x Great Grandmother Amanda M Chessher Haygood born 1822, Died after 1900. She was Pawpaw George Haygood Mother and Melissa Calista Davis Haygood mother in law, Amanda's mother was a Thomas, Her father was Captain James Chessher Sr. of Jasper Tx.; Last known location before arriving up here in Hill County/Waco area for her was in Galveston with everyone else, they came here and we are still in Hillsboro today from there, legend says we moved to a farm near Smithville first, but I find no record of it, the Byerly family has a place in that area, and they are kin too, but not sure how that would relate, so logically, in our family, if the head of the family moves someplace, the rest will follow in kind, kind of makes us Gypsies, but its been like that for generations, luckily, we always seem to come back here.
Also, could you re-post the map, the link is not working, I would really appreciate that. Tried to find my Grannie Wilkerson in the Dallas Oakland Cemetery to get a pic of her tombstone, place was very confusing and didn't find it, just a lot of others that may be related, still unverified.
Anyway, any help in knowing if Grannie Amanda is here or somewhere near would be helpful, We all left Galveston after the Great Storm.
