Bio and Links
Bio Photo To see contributors relying on eighty year old data based SOLELY upon what what was transcribed decades ago is not what I believe FAG is about. They duplicate memorials because the data they based their memorials upon is abundant with misspellings. Memorials that read Name "Unknown" -- Date of Birth "Unknown" -- Date of Death "Unknown" -- Cemetery "Unknown." What benefit is that entry to the viewer? Tens of thousands of memorials with a couple hundred photographs, and few if any links to family members to me signals a problem.

Considering this, I couldn't agree more with the following statement a saw on a fellow contributor's profile.

"I think it is a real shame what findagrave has evolved into. What started as a noble way to link people with graves of loved ones they could never hope to see, and with the generations that had preceded them, has turned into a game for some. Memorials have turned into a kind of "trading card", a competition of who can own the most memorials and post the highest numbers. What has been forgotten by many is that these were people, loved in life and death, not a commodity to be traded or owned.
With my apologies to those that have pure motives. I hope there are more of us than there are of them."

Excerpt

Hi,

Just read your bio on Find A Grave.

...

I am related to the Molloy family.
I have been writing a blog about genealogy since 2009 and I am presently writing about the Malloys.

...

This Thomas had at least two brothers Patrick and John (1854-1919). They emigrated to Canada from Ireland.

Can I use your headstone picture on ... family tree on Ancestry giving you full credits?

Can I also write about what you wrote on my blog and use the headstone as a starter?
I want to share with others my research on this family.

Best regards from Quebec, Canada

Pierre

Dear John, Definitely leave it. And I'll ignore the other dups that she's involved with at St Joes. I didn't know. I do know, she and another member drive me crazy with the Hale additions, that I then have to send corrections for. Thanks for letting me know. ASB

Peronti
Hi John,
You're welcome. Thank you for sharing their story. It makes it more personal and more interesting to me. You're right, you may never know why the last letter was changed.
I had a grandfather whose last name was Breault.
He was born and grew up in New Brunswick. The family name at that time was Breau. He came to the US when he was about 21 and the name changed to Breault some time after that. I don't know why or when it changed. When he died, the funeral director put it down as Breau. The nespaper obit was Breau and his death certificate was Breau. In this particular case I am related and don't have the answers.

Peronti
Hi John,

I habe deleted the Peronti memorials. It just shows that you can't believe everything you read etched in stone. I put them on even though there were no death dates.Going by the birth dates, I figured that they must have died when I put them on.

Antoinette (Remillard) Grenier
John,

Could you kindly link my aunt Antoinette (Find A Grave Memorial# 92447110) to her father Henri Remillard Find A Grave Memorial# 94481128.

If you are still active in Saint Joseph's could you be please find my Aunt Gracie Renillard 1904 - 1986, and her son, my cousin Roger Remillard 1932 - 1986. I can no longer walk very far and my effort to locate their graves yesterday proved fruitless.

My email is thsuggs@hotmail.com.

Thank you -- Doris

RE: PVT. Roland A. Blain Picture
Hi John,

Sorry If I took so long but I was in Normandy for D-Day commemorations . It's a great honor for me to do this memory work and give the chance to all the relatives to see a family grave . If you have a picture or his history I'm realy interresting , I would like also to tell you that here in Belgium we can adopt a US grave , I adopt 6 graves . The way is not cut the grass but stop when we can on the grave put flowers and pray . Your cousin is maybe "adopted" by someone and if you want you can contact the cemetery to ask the name and maybe a contact , I'm in touch with 2 US family and for me it's really like a true family .
Take Care
Dominique
