Each individual will eventually go his way, but the FAMILY stays on forever. At the last moment of survival of this plodding, solid earth, some member of our big family will be there to see the last of the grand finale."

 | Chamberlayne and Stratton I'm the contributor of Thomas Chamberlayne (#77415133) and Elizabeth Stratton (#77415184) ... my direct line. You are the contributor of Wilhelmina Byrd's memorial (#44571348), she m. 1752 to Thomas Chamberlayn (no info.) It's possible he was the s/o Thomas Chamberlayne and Elizabeth Stratton. | | | Messer
 | Rebecca Tompkins McLaurine Memorial # 69431454 Hello! I just wanted to let you know that I have added a photo of her tombstone to her memorial. I will be adding others for this cemetery over the next couple days as I photographed all that were legible this past weekend. Hope this helps! | RE: Frances Olivia Tompkins That may be correct. I am not privy to my desktop with all its files. Also, I noticed at Lydia Purcel Headen Tompkins; grave that I had not switched my footstone photo for a photo of the headstone. I did not have the headstone photo but went back to the cemetery and got the photo.
Since your are a Tompkins I will transfer these memorials to you if you want them.
Though I am the Murphy family historian and Lydia's mother is Elizabeth Murphy Headen I feel that you should have them if you want them.
Sincerely, Mr. P
PS I just had openheart surgery three weeks ago and am struggling a little bit. Mr. )Added by Mr. P on Mar 25, 2013 10:17 AM | | | Johnny Marrs
 | William Harrison Marrs Thanks very much for the help , in doing my Family research , I have found many mistakes. I try and correct the mistakes.
I was wondering , are you a Marrs descendant?
I was just a young boy , but I remember the Cemetery and Church , where my daddy is buried.

I am a son of William Harrison Marrs , and I believe/know your death dates are incorrect , Daddy died around 1965.
We were living in West Va. , when daddy passed away and moved back to Virginia.
I was attending school at Patterson , Va. in 1967 , and daddy had already passed away.

 | Douglas List Lambert There are rumors that many casualties of Exercise "Tiger" when repatriated to the U.S. were not in the coffins. One story tells of a mother insisting the coffin was opened but was refused and told by the military escort that it was "full of rocks". There are inconsistencies of casualties recovered, numbers transported to the temporary cemetery at Brookwood, England, and inaccurate record keeping of burials. See www.exercise-tiger.com | | | Richard T Bass
 | Douglas List Lambert There is a Douglas L Lambert, a Pfc with 557th QM Railhead Company who was killed in action during Exercise "Tiger" on 27/28th April 1944 in the English Channel. Buried initially at Brookwood military cemetery on 1st May 1944. Is this the same person ? | | | Darrell Landrum
 | RE: Photos I did not get much of a chance to speak with the people in the office out at The Old City Cemetery yesterday as they are preparing for the wreath laying next weekend. I did spend some time up there in the oldest part of the cemetery looking and did not find his marker.
The weather is expected to be wonderful here today, so I shall go out to Presbyterian and search for your ancestors graves there. Your having the general locations of their markers should help a lot!

 | RE: Reverend James Tompkins OK. I just became a volunteer worker out at The Old City Cemetery and will definitely inquire about him when I am out there.

 | Reverend James Tompkins Hello...I read in your memorial that a stone for him was supposed to have been seen less than 10 years ago. Would there be any additional information you could provide as to a possible location of the marker? I go out to The Old City Cemetery frequently and would really like to find his grave as he is listed as the first person buried there. If found, I would certainly take a photograph and post it to your memorial.
