Please feel free to use any of the headstone pictures that we have posted...no credit is necessary. A recently read quote states, "It is amazing how much people can get done if they do not worry about who gets the credit." There is so much work to be done and so few doing the work. So, with that in mind...Let's get it done!|
THE RECORDING OF A CEMETERY
BY THELMA GREENE REAGAN
Today we walked where others walked
On a lonely, windswept hill;
Today we talked where others cried
For Loved Ones whose lives are stilled.
Today our hearts were touched
By graves of tiny babies;
Snatched from the arms of loving kin,
In the heartbreak of the ages.
Today we saw where the grandparents lay
In the last sleep of their time;
Lying under the trees and clouds -
Their beds kissed by the sun and wind.
Today we wondered about an unmarked spot;
Who lies beneath this hollowed ground?
Was it a babe, child, young or old?
No indication could be found.
Today we saw where Mom and Dad lay.
We had been here once before
On a day we'd all like to forget,
But will remember forever more.
Today we recorded for kith and kin
The graves of ancestors past;
To be preserved for generations hence,
A record we hope will last.
Cherish it, my friend; preserve it, my friend,
For stones sometimes crumble to dust
And generations of folks yet to come
Will be grateful for your trust.

Please correct Memorial name so that it reflects the name on headstone....Blomquist. That way those that want to search for John Albert Blomquist can find him here on the Find A Grave website. Thank you.

I've made the transfers you've requested. Nothing thrills me more than to transfer ancestors to their family. If you come across any more that I have, just let me know and I'll transfer them to you. This is the reason I posted these memorials in the first place...so their ancestors (like you) can find them!!
God bless you and your family,

Hi, I am Rhonda Hughes, her daughter. Not sure how to send a private message ... Would like to give you my contact information but do not want it on a public message.

You are welcome. If u run across any more, just drop me a line. Most of the markers I maintain were made by a old friend, Linda Furr, and she has since passed. She only wanted the markers maintained and if family came along, to pass on to them. So I am happy to pass memorials to family members and they don't have to be within the guidlines set by Find A Grave. Even is they are a distant cousin by marriage, I will transfer them. Happy hunting.
my pleasure it was lovely to see you a few months ago. bless you

I have added your request for a photo to my list. Everything here is covered with snow, so probably will not get one till about April. You might try contacting the office there and they may be able to help you sooner.

What kind words! Thanks so much. We may be kin. My great-great grandfather is buried in King Cemetery. That is one of the reasons I photographed the entire cemetery. His name was Albert Lafayette Rogers. His mother was Sarah Sharp King. I don't know if she is kin to your King family, but I would bet she was somehow. Maybe you know. She was born December 2, 1802 in Dickson, Tennessee and died December 20, 1865. King Cemetery is fun to go to, but scary to photograph. I did it twice. The first time I used chalk and it looked awful. So, I went back and rephotographed it. But it is usually so grown up and I am probably roaming around in snakes. Plus, it is really sandy and if it has rained, I feel like some of the markers and graves could give way with my weight. But it is neat to be there and think of our ancestors living there. I transferred the King family to you. Let me know if you ever want any others. Linda Creamer Furr worked with me as a team to add memorials and I added the photos. She passed away a few years ago and gave me a big portion of her memorials for me to manage.
Thank you for updating the memorial it looks like you have added what we had. No need to transfer now.

Since you are related maybe you can finish the bio. We have transferred management to you. Sorry for your loss. We try to add all we can and link family members.

Thanks so much for turning Grandpa Bingham's memorial over to me. It is much appreciated. Thank you for the great work you did to set it up.
