My name is William M. Scherwitz. I have lived most of my life in the Fort Atkinson, WI area. My parents were born here as well as my grand parents and great Grandparents. My Great Great grandparents immigrated from Germany in 1845. The family farm is adjacent to Union Cemetery, Town of Sumner, Jefferson County, WI. All of my parents, grandparents, great grandparents and great great grandparents on the Scherwitz side are buried in Union Cemetery.
RE: Oakland Center Cemetery No, it's not necessary. I was just curious as to why they weren't together in the same place. I head out for photos quite often and just came across it and thought it an anomoly. We all become slueths after some time, don't we? My grandparents are in Union.
RE: Oakland Center Cemetery Thanks for the info! The reason I ask is because Lloyd Weckler http://www.findagrave.com/cgibin/fg.cgipage=gr&GRid=10868613 is listed in Union Cemetery and his wife Vivian is listed in Oakland Center Cemetery. http://www.findagrave.com/cgibin/fg.cgipage=gr&GSsr=81&GScid=1993682&GRid=50141464& So I thought MAYBE they were the same cemetery.
Hello William Thanks for all of your work on here. I'm not sure how we're related, but I'm certain we are. I live in Rockford, IL, but get to Fort often to help my 87 year old Aunt Jean Hummel out. I would love to meet you for coffee. Let me know- Gail Hummel
Kreutz relatives Thank you for posting the Kreutz tombstones here. I see that the Scherwitz family married both Johann Heinrich Kreutz descendants, and also Philip Kreutz descendants. I always think it's fun when you can match up two families where the inlaws are cousins of inlaws. Hey there were only so many families around 150 years ago in some areas. Thanks again Mary Higgins, 5 generation from Johann Heinrich Kreutz.
