I live in the Richmond, Virginia area and have been taking gravestone photos for over 3 years after I discovered what a great tool a digital camera is for that kind of work. I am trying to photograph as many of the cemetries as I can in the area. I also take my camera whenever I travel and and usually end up with photos from some distant cemeteries.|
I am the volunteer coordinator for the clean up of East End Cemetery in Richmond. Please contact me if you are interested in helping with the clean up effort.
The vast majority of the gravestone pictures that I've entered are of people I don't know. I've entered them to help others. If you'd like me to fix, add to, and/or delete any of your family members please email me and I'll make the change as quickly as possible. If you would like a copy of the original picture, let me know and I will be glad to email it to you.
If you would like me to transfer an entry to you, please let me know. I will be glad to do that.
Please request transfers and updates/corrections through the Suggest a Correction function so that I make sure I update the correct entry.
Note that much of the CSA related info for burials at Hollywood Cemetery was provided by Scott Hutchinson.

I have met you before sir. You showed me the graves of Noah Braxton, Pattie Burrell, James Hiram Mann, and Charles Arthur Callaham. I am coming as soon as my research is done. I'm trying to find all the relatives that I have buried out there.

All the entries I put in this week are from the area where Logan Ashby did his Eagle Project. How would you like me to label those plots?
Thanks, Marianne Ashby
LTC Benjamin Conway Garlington Find A Grave Memorial# 24215541 Laurens City Cemetery you added a photo featuring a large rock obelisk. This is not Laurens SC City Cemetery and does not have a Civil War section..

|rootbound||Dena Grace Owens - Forest Lawn|
This is Dena Grace Wilkerson, daughter of William Robert Wilkerson and Bettie Duncan of Oxford, Granville, NC.
Dena must have really liked to "fudge" her birthdate because her first marriage took place in 1912 and she was 18 at the time. That would have made her 12 if she was born in 1900 as her death certificate and marker indicate. She later married William S Owens and lived in Virginia --where she passed away and we find her much younger on the marker than her marriage and census records indicate. This is part of why she was so difficult to locate. Her husband Mr Owens also could not provide her parents names (her mom died when she was a child (age 6 on the 1900 Census so she could not have been born in 1900--it also say her birthdate was May 1894...) and after the grandparents died in 1905 and 1909 we lose track of her. Glad she is found even if some of the info is wrong.
