I was born and raised in Corley, WV. My adult life has been spent in the northern VA suburbs. My passion for the history of Braxton County and uncovering the genealogy of the families - who were a part of the community that shaped me - is being fanned into flames in my retirement years. I will work to do a walk-through survey of cemeteries in the area to share with FAG viewers.|
I appreciate your advising me of additions or corrections. Many thanks.

|Beverly ||Perry Byrne Cemetery Marker|
Thank you so much for locating the Perry Byrne marker at Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens. Perry and his brother Peyton died as young children within a short time of each other in 1845. Shortly afterwards, their parents and family emigrated to Greenup, KY.

Hello Thank you for the suggestion for ALice Casto, but somehow you linked her grandparents to her. Her parents were Pearl and Emory according to information I have for her. DO you know something I do not? Thanks
|John Stewart||Stewart Family - Braxton Cty|
First thank you for all of your dedicated research. I am researching my family history (Amida Gans Stewart & Family / Sutton) Amida Stewart lived from 1876-1938. He is my 1st great grandfather. My family has deep historical roots there in Braxton County.I am planning to visit this summer to Sutton, Otter and Flatwoods, so far anyway in Braxton County.
Would you consider a consultation visit with me this summer? I can be contacted at 214-912-6389, I live in the Dallas, TX area. Nothing is firmly scheduled at this time for visit to Braxton County, just sometime this summer with my father, John R. Stewart Sr.
John R. Stewart Jr.
Okay, I figured it out. The marker in Paul T. Mitchell Cemetery is for O.P.'s first wife. It's very hard to read but studying it I can see "Eva L" at the top and the word "wife." I fixed my memorial and appreciate finding out that O.P. is buried elsewhere.

Looking at his more deeply I have a quandry.
My husband's g-grandfather, David Felix McCord, was the brother of O.P. McCord. All our family records show O.P. buried in the Paul T. Mitchell Cemetery, near his parents and siblings. I have pictures of his headstone and they look older than the one in your memorial. My husband's grandfather, John G. McCray, married David Felix McCord's daughter, Mary Malinda. John G.was the sexton of the Mitchell Cemetery for many years. You would think he would know where his wife's uncle was laid to rest.
O.P.'s death cert says burial in the IOOF Cemetery. When the Stonewall Jackson Dam was being built a number of graves were relocated to Mitchell Cemetery. That's one possibility.
O.P. died in 1926. Della was O.P.'s 2nd wife, and she died in 1962. I wonder if she just added his name to the marker?
I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, if you would.

Paula, My mother T Delores Morrison Connell was married to Emmett T. Connell born in 1925 died 2005. His ID is 13199867. He is buried in Toledo OH in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. At this time she is listed to have been married to my great uncle bearing the same name of my father. Can this please be corrected? Thank you very much, their daughter Pam
I cannot find a record of Susan Barnett ever being married to a Hines. She was married to Taylor Evans. If she is in face the daughter of William and Charlotte. Do you have additional info?

If these are your relatives, I will be happy to transfer to your loving care. I am not related to anyone in that cemetery.
Just let me know
