I am retired so I have time to walk through the cemeteries and take pictures. In mid July 2010 I started a project to record as many memorials for the cemeteries in my county (Broome, NY) with pictures that I could. This project is done. I have moved on to cemeteries in Susquehanna PA and Tioga NY.
The following link will show all the cemeteries in the surrounding counties photographed (by me and others!) and added to Find A Grave:
---------------------------------- If I have added memorials for any of your relatives, please thank me by visiting a nearby cemetery and add the gravestones there for others to find their relatives.
You have my permission to use any picture taken by me for private uses. For public use, you may use them as long as I am given credit. For commercial use, please contact me.
If any of the memorials I have created need updates, please contact me using the edit tab. If any are a relative of yours and you want to manage them, let me know and I will transfer them. Please use the edit tab and SAC to ask for a transfer or update.
I am submitting edits to move middle names/initials and/or maiden names from the first name field to the proper field. I am typically doing 20-50 per day for a cemetery. If you are receiving them and would like more or less per day, just let me know.
Thanks for your work! Many of my ancestors are in the St. Peter and Paul's cemetery in Elmira. Great to have these! Do you have much more to do there? I still think there are others that don't seem to be listed. Keep up the great work. Toby R Fenner
RE: Middle names part 2 I just added the first batch of 488 N names at West Terrace and you will see that I parsed out the middle names. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSiman=1&GScid=2232060&GSfn=&GSln=n
RE: Middle names Yes, I will accept all edits and quantity is not an issue. I stopped parsing out the middle names and have not had many change requests for updates so I thought it was OK. I will take the time to do that. Some of them have 4 names so there will still be some with two in one field. The display shows right and in most cases a search should be done on First and Last since the middle could be only an Initial or not showing. I did not think it was worth the effort to parse them. I just finished the M names so most of the rest will have them right. A few letters were done already but only the small ones. My time to parse will be less than your time to update so thanks for doing that.
CSA Memorials Hi Paul, 17 corrections at a time is a large amount, :-) The reason that CSA is in their name is most do not have dates and if someone is looking for them it might help. Thank you Christine
Edward J. Marks, Jr. Memorial #101902467 Thanks so much for the photograph of my uncle's headstone at St. Peter and St. Paul's Cemetery. I think you must have photographed most of my ancestors in Tioga, Broome and Chemung counties. We appreciate your activities with Find-A-Grave. Patrick Patterson
Memorial 102644166 Thank you so much, Paul, for your transferring this memorial to me; you are so patient and thoughtful to explain how do a certain something. I did find that and wished I hadn't bothered you to tell me how to do it.
