Thanks for calling attention to my error on the Pikes and their daughter. I think it is right now.

Hi Kathy B.
Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you on this. First, I have been to the cemetery many time's, sad to say but Henry and Carrie have no headstone. The cemetery is located in a heavy drug infested neighborhood and there is only one way in and out and only room for one car basically. Have to say one of the scariest cemeteries i have been to. What info i have on Carrie i have gotten from Wyandotte county Parks and Rec, they are in charge of caring for cemetery. From what they told me there was a flood and the cemetery records got wet. Cetric the man i spoke to told me someone came in and tried to copy the record the best they could, he did say some of the writting was hard to read because the ink had ran. It would not surprise me if the date is wrong. You can send to Kansas Vital Static for copy of death record but they do charge a fee around $15.00. You can go online and search death, marriage etc records for Kansas but there is a fee! .If we knew what funeral home that took care of her funeral could still have records, which most funeral homes will help free of charge.

Kathy, Thank you so much for their Tombstone photos. My Mom & I went to the cemetery a few years ago, but couldn't find them. We were in a hurry & didn't have long to stay. Olean & the whole area was beautiful. Peggy

I enjoyed reading your memories of Marion. She was quite a lovely, interesting lady. Marion and her family did so much good for their small community. The store was a treasure trove of interesting items. Ladies traveled from miles around to purchase the latest dress styles that Marion purchased in NY City.
