I have been researching some of the 36,000 + Army Air Forces personnel who died in the line of duty, of non-combat causes during the World War II era in service-related accidents. It is said that more|
than 15,500 Army airmen were killed in airplane accidents between 1941 and 1946, within the borders of the U.S. and it's territories. They gave their all and died in the service of their country, but received no purple hearts and virtually no mention in the history books and have largely been forgotten by time.
For corrections, additions, or requests for transfer of memorial, please use the Edit tab, and select Suggest a Correction or Provide Additional Information to make any update requests. It is much easier to handle the issue this way, rather than a personal message.
I am happy to update any memorial, including family links. But I DO NOT like adding census information, copies of death certificates and please do not add long obituaries to the "photo" area. The information can be condensed and pasted into the bio area. If you don't have the time to type out the obituary, just email it to me. I will add it and give you credit for finding it.
I appreciate any information that can "round out" someone's bio.

Thank you for all the headstone photos for John, Charles and Sarah Jakeway and for Mike & Mary Borbely. There is a memorial on Find A Grave for Mary Borbely, # 9949853. Would you please add your photo to her memorial. I really appreciate you taking time to do all of this for me.
Hi Tim, Thanks so much for taking the great photos of the 4 Batemans I had requested. I sincerely appreciate your taking the time to find the correct graves and for taking the pictures.

Photo volunteer has posted photo of his stone if you would like to see it:

Based on the date of the marriage of his parents I believe the 1914 year of birth is the correct one. The 1912 year of birth on the AOG record does not fit.
Thanks for your help.

Tim: I have been photographing Old St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx for the last several years. I just made an entry for this memorial (Find A Grave Memorial# 165666292). While trying to find out more about this man, I discovered that you had already entered a memorial for him, but with cemetery unknown. Please change the cemetery location on yours, and I'll add my photo to it and delete mine. Thank you for the work you are doing. - Kevin

Billy became a member of Christ Lutheran Church Roanoke VA in May 1943. When in died on Aug 24, 1944 his fellow Cadets took up a collection for a memorial in the Church. I found all the letters in the Church Archive. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke Virginia. I added the picture of the grave marker to his memorial. His birth date is March 2, 1925. Thank you for his memorial on findagrave. He had six brothers and three sisters. Though I have not met any of them. I imagine there is a lot of family out there who would be interested in this memorial.
