Bio and Links
Bio Photo I am eighth generation Iowan. My mother's side of the family has been in Iowa since 1839. I have been working on my family history since 1980.

I began contributing to Find A Grave as a means to record the headstone inscriptions I had transcribed from walking many cemeteries back in the day, mostly Audubon, Cass, Clarke, Madison, Polk and Warren counties in Iowa and mostly relatives. This was before Find A Grave and way before Find A Grave turned into a genealogical site. My parents have also contributed headstone photographs they have taken. My main goal is to preserve what was written on the headstones, to learn about the people and to honor the deceased.

You will find the link to this page on the left side of each Find A Grave page under Actions. If you have been a contributor on Find A Grave for an extended amount of time you might want to reread this page. Most of the rules and guidelines have changed since bought this site.

Please contact me by clicking the edit tab on the upper right hand corner of the memorial. I will not add highly detailed information such as census transactions. This data is more suited for sites like, or your virtual cemetery, etc.

Please use the edit tab to request links. I DO NOT LINK TO UNKNOWN BURIALS.

Please use the edit tab to request transfers. I will then receive a link to the memorial in question.

Thank you!!

Flowers for our niece
Thank you for the lovely flowers on Sheralynn's page! Her father is from Iowa. Please keep the family (her mother, father, and brother) in your prayers.

Karen, Here is another record that should be in the Brethren Cemetery in Elkhart in stead of the Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Washington Township. Before I realized there was already a record I created one for her over in Elkhart. If you would please edit the cemetery location for your record and move her over I will delete the one I created and add the tombstone. Just let me know how you would like to handle the situation.

RE: James and Nancy Cuddy edits
Lots of good people from and living in Iowa. Didn't get to the cemetery today, but longingly gazed at it outside the window while I substituted for auto shop class and watched a video.

foisting these Sunset memorials off to others is really a selfish gesture on my part, because it means less work for me. I also don't like to have people without connections, and thousands may never have a connection. I feel like they are my "children" I've been fostering.

Fun! I might look up those locations. Tomorrow I substitute teach at the high school which is right next to the cemetery.

Online Grave locator for Sunset Cemetery.
Cuddy name results of Sunset Cemetery. If you go to that page and click on the eyeball to the left of each entry, it gives more information.
I have surname search privileges with the RCGS membership, and can look up local newspapers back to 1855 in our local library microfilm library, also.

I can still help with some of the birth dates, possibly might be had in the grave records of Sunset Cemetery, through the Riley County Genealogical Society, Riley County, Kansas. Sunset Cemetery also has a really neat online grave locator where you can search, hover, and click on the grave sites. I suspect some may be in the same area as the marked ones (it's been a couple of years since I photographed them). We have a volunteer who is fantastic - he photographs and marks unmarked graves digitally, with their geographic addresses. Just some ideas in case you want to look into these further.

All of the people in the cemetery were given to me, so you are welcome to these if you like. I'm not related to any of them.
