Bio Photo FINDAGRAVE is a COLLABORATIVE website; Collaboration is working with each other to do a task and to achieve shared goals. It is a recursive process where two or more people or organizations work together to realize shared goals.

Are you checking out findagrave? See a memorial with no grave photo? PLEASE click the "request photo" button if no marker photo and no notation that it is unmarked.. THANK YOU! Thank You!

Please read the findagrave faqs so you know and understand them. They do change without notice. All un-kind messages get forwarded to findgrave admin.

I am documenting cemeteries using sexton, burial, and death records. I also strive to keep them up to date.

I don't care WHO enters a memorial, I care that it got entered..

Findagrave has become a godsend to many small cemeteries as they don't have the funds to digitize records, nor the funding for a website.

I try to create memorials that will help family members find their loved ones final resting place. Additions and corrections are always welcome. I have permission from the local newspaper to post obituaries.

Someday, the family member who has been in charge of research and family archives will die, and their stuff mayor may NOTbe special to the next generation. If that next generation decides to put those boxes on the curb for the garbage manthats it. Its gone. Forever. But if you scan, share, post, and label, it will live on. Forever. It wont matter who found it, who owned it, who had it first. What will matter is that it was preserved.

To all of you have created pages and pages of Burial Unknown listings, instead of creating more, why not spend some time researching where all those people you have created memorials for are buried?? It's called FIND-A-GRAVE.

Findagrave rules clearly state that burial unknown, where the cemetery has not been located after 30 days are not subject to the normal seniority rules on resolving duplicates. Contributors who have posted memorials with known burial location may as a courtesy remove their memorial if an older unknown burial memorial is edited and moved into the correct cemetery but the contributor who found the burial location first is under no obligation to do so.

A Burial Unknown is one in which you don't know where they are buried. An Unknown Burial is a burial you know is there, but you don't know who it is.

The "In it for the numbers" folks: I've heard this term used negatively; however, those of us that transcribe massive numbers of folks, whatever the source, are the angels of this site. Please keep it up. There are folks we all need to find and we can't find them without them entering records. So thanks to all of you that are documenting. This is what FindaGrave is all about!

I would like to state that if a contributor refuses to accept sacs, edits, and bios submitted to memorials under their care, perhaps they should be transferring them, even if it is out of guide lines, instead of refusing to add the info. This simple little thing would go a long way in reducing duplicate entries, and some of the negativity that is on here. It's so very laughable, the stories I hear from family members that are frustrated that a contributor won't transfer their family member, or add info they send, without full documentation. When the family member requests admin add the info, which they do, then the memorial creator goes back and deletes it?? WTH? just transfer it! It's not your family..

TRANSFERS REQUESTS and other messages left on my MESSAGE PAGE (Below), will generally be ignored. Please use the edit tab to send me messages about memorials.

Please request edits, corrections & transfers by clicking the "EDIT" tab on the memorial page, select the category of your edit and submit. For bios, and transfers use "suggest other corrections," please include your findagrave contributor # for transfers.

The new photo transcribing application is pretty slick. Although you can't edit existing memorials & if you add a double marker pic to both, then delete the pic from one, it deletes it from both. Please be sure that there isn't already an existing memorial for the pic you are transcribing. The drop down menu will bring up the name and info IF you let it. Not checking for existing one, creates duplicates by the transcriber. Please do the edits from the photos when you add the photo; edit the dates please. It does no one any good when you just upload your pics and don't do the edits.

Please familiarize yourself with the findagrave FAQS by clicking the link in the left column "help with findagrave". Whether you agree with them or not, they are the rules for this website.

Recognize online nitpicking, unjustified criticism or faultfinding for what it is: harassment and bullying. Report it to FindAGrave. There is no reason anyone should hound or harass you.

If you are threatened or harassed, take online screen shots or snips to document incidents and forward them to FindAGrave or your local authorities without haste.

Findagrave admin can see all messages that have been posted publicly, or sent privately via the edit tab, even if they have been deleted.
I am no longer physically able to "mow the rows." Feel free to copy any pic/info I have posted. You do not need to give me credit. If you have taken a picture of a headstone that is of better quality than the one I posted, please post it and let me know so I can remove the one I added.

You do not need to give me credit for any info I may pass on to you. I don't do this for the credit or the numbers, I do it to help others find and connect to their people, which is how I discovered findagrave myself.

When I come across relevant info during my research I pass it on. It is up to your discretion if you want to add it. There is absolutely NO reason anyone should be offended if someone sent an edit or suggested a correction, family member or not. I have permission from the local newspaper to post obits.

Duplicate memorials that a member refuses to delete are merged with the original memorial with the original memorial being retained.

I am not responsible for duplication of burial unknowns or memorials placed in the wrong cemetery, or that were not placed in a cemetery, or the correct cemetery.

If you want a photo. Officially request one, if you want a photo for another family member, officially request one. Don't bury your request in a spouse or another family members photo request, many times people don't notice the message to take additional pics.

Jacobs family photo
Kerry, I just found an old "Jacobs" family photo in my father-in-laws stuff. It was taken in 1936 in Napa, CA. The only one identified is Bernard Jacobs, his grandfather. I thought I had an email for you and found I do not. If you are interested please contact me off list at

photo already posted
Kerry, if you could request that Diane post a copy of her photo of the marker for Patrick Feeley (37302592) also on the page for his wife Catherine Feeley (your request which I accepted) the need for another one could be avoided. Her photo, as always, is very clear and notes that the marker memorializes both Patrick and his wife
(C Feeley) Catherine. Thank you

RE: William Creighton McKee 78852577
Thank you for replying. I do have that information already. We were at that cementary looking for his grave and could not find it. I was wondering if someone had a picture or could tell me where in Hope Cementary he was buried.

Infant Shoup photo request
Thank you Kerry, for letting me know the problem with finding and photographing the marker for Infant Shoup. I looked at the cemetery page for where this child was buried and see now that there was a wildfire, but would you mind adding that to the baby's memorial under Note?

Thank you and I appreciate your help in this matter:)

Josephine Godfrey
I have searched the Ocean View Cemetery for Josephine Godfrey and she is not buried here, at least, not under that name. I find her parents here, but not her. Please let me know if she could be buried under another name, a married name perhaps.

As you suggested, I transferred info from site 171419392 to 37115904.
If this is your family line, you can request a transfer from me.
Thanks so much for your help.

I requested a photo in case I'm off on the H 6 105 1 being in the mass reburial area. There are a few H's that are not...

The photo volunteers are really on the ball there!

Elizabeth Dugan in the Oregon, Church and Cemetery Records, 1840-1965
I made a note concerning your find in the Oregon records for her, but the Holy Cross records are pretty clear as to her interment and movement from Calvary.

It's possible she's not buried in Oregon but that a cenotaph was placed for her with family that is actually buried there and the record is of a marker, not a burial?

It's somewhat possible that after 1940, family had her removed and taken to Oregon. I'm not sure how to discover that without knowing the cemetery she went to, and contacting them. I'm not sure Holy Cross would necessarily be able to find that information without a disinterment date.

I don't see a findagrave entry in Oregon for her. I'd request a photo of either spot to help clarify but that doesn't seem possible for Holy Cross.

When Calvary was evacuated, the tombstones, unless family paid for removal and resetting, were tossed into San Francisco Bay and became part of the Bridge base. Now and then the ocean returns one to the beach, but they're not in readable shape, even so.

A tragedy, in my opinion, for them to have done this, but it is as it is...

My note is:

Wife of William
Moved to H 6 105 1 (Mass Reinterment Area)

One of five family members moved from Calvary area 5 98 3 to Holy Cross H 6 105 1 (Mass Reinterment Area) on 5/21/1940.

She was identified by an existing tombstone and by physical remains (skull and bones)in the grave.

Oregon, Church and Cemetery Records has:
Burial Place: Salem, Marion, Oregon
