I am trying to add a pictorial record for our local cemeteries before they are lost forever. I see so many unmarked graves or unreadable headstones. They will be lost forever! Remember your past generations!

I want to thank all who send in corrections/additions for the memorials I have created. I will make the corrections as soon as possible. Please use the edit tab on the memorial.

The Story Tellers.....Unknown Author

We are the chosen. My feelings are in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the story tellers of the tribe. All tribes have one. We have been called as it were by our genes. Those who have gone before cry out to us: Tell our story. So, we do. In finding them, we somehow find ourselves. How many graves have I stood before now and cried? I have lost count. How many times have I told the ancestors you have a wonderful family you would be proud of us? How many times have I walked up to a grave and felt somehow there was love there for me? I cannot say. It goes beyond just documenting facts. It goes to who am I and why do I do the things I do? It goes to seeing a cemetery about to be lost forever to weeds and indifference and saying I can't let this happen. The bones here are bones of my bone and flesh of my flesh. It goes to doing something about it. It goes to pride in what our ancestors were able to accomplish. How they contributed to what we are today. It goes to respecting their hardships and losses, their never giving in or giving up, their resoluteness to go on and build a life for their family. It goes to deep pride that they fought to make and keep us a Nation. It goes to a deep and immense understanding that they were doing it for us. That we might be born who we are. That we might remember them. So we do. With love and caring and scribing each fact of their existence, because we are them and they are us. So, as a scribe called, I tell the story of my family. It is up to that one called in the next generation to answer the call and take their place in the long line of family storytellers. That, is why I do my family genealogy, and that is what calls those young and old to step up and put flesh on the bones.

Hi, Faye ...

Thank you so much for the transfer of Mrs. Joan's memorial. She was a neighbor and a cousin of mine. Your thoughtfulness is much appreciated.

Albert Ernest Erb
Hi, My name is Mary Lou Rushing and this memorial posted for Albert Ernest Erb is my grandfather. I have not been able to find one record of him except this one. I don't know who found him nor do I know who left the message for him that he was an uncle to. I would love to know who else I am kin to. That whole side of my family has been lost to me and I have been desperate to find anyone who knows something about my wonderful grandfather who I lost when I was in the third grade. My grandmother is listed here as his spouse also but I have never been able to find anything on her either. Please if there is anything that you can tell me I would appreciate it. I've lost my parents and everyone who may have been connected to tell me something. Thank you Mary Lou Rushing,

Hixie Glover
Noticed your memorial for Hixie Glover (memorial #118102410) in Osborn Cememtery. I believe her to be buried in Friendship Cemetery, Amity, AR. There is a marker with the name "Hixie Rosser Nutt Glover" (memorial #44081074)with the same birth and death dates. Many of my family are buried in both cemeteries.

Thank you for the transfer. Also, thank you taking the time to make sure one was created for her. A lot of times families don't know about this site and new memorial don't get added.

Harrison Sarah

I have added a suggestion regarding the birth date for Sarah Harrison. Your memorial shows 1899 while the stone shows 1865. That is quite a big difference in her age.

Do you know more about her? Was she married to Wyatt M Harrison? If so, would you contact me..

Thanks for all you do for Find A Grave
