"Show me [how you care for] your cemeteries and I will tell you what kind of people you have."|
All of my ancestors for at least six generations are from Fentress county Tennessee. I have a great deal of interest in the history of that area.
Some family names are: WINNINGHAM, ATKINSON, COOPER, WRIGHT, CONATSER, MASSINGILL, BEATY, HOOVER, KING, ROBBINS, YOUNG.
I would love to have old family photos and would be glad to share mine!
I have found many cousins here on Find a Grave and would like to meet more.
"If I didn't have those people back there, I would never have had anything to write about. That's where I got all my stories from. My life is from them. … I'm going to do everything to keep up for them, in memory. That is my duty from now until I die."
- Author Ernest J. Gaines explaining why he takes care of an old cemetery on the former plantation where five generations of his ancestors, going back to slavery, are buried.

|Lana Labhart Poole||Old Borden Cemetery|
We just went to see the Old Borden Cemetery and had a time finding it. Is there a way to tell anyone wanting to visit this cemetery that you need to go to the Office of the Elementary school and ask permission to go through the play ground to see it. They were very nice and gave us a name tag that said we were visitors and then we went up into the cemetery. When school is not in session I am sure you can get in with no problems. We had a hard time just finding out that is the way we needed to get into it. Thank You!
|Elizabeth Daugherty||Memorial for Rev. Adam Bruner|
I was wondering if you would make an addition to the memorial page for Rev. Adam Bruner, Memorial
# 58867701. His father was Adam Peter Bruner, who died October 19, 1846 and is buried in the Bruner Cemetery in Knox County, Illinois. Would you please link the two memorial pages? The memorial number for Adam Peter Bruner is #7290390. I would really appreciate it! Sincerely, Beth Daugherty

Casey, your Memorial for the above created in 2010 is a duplicate to one I created in 2009. Yours has a nice photo of her gravestone and mine has a nice bio added. We should combine the information onto one Memorial. If you will add the bio to your Memorial I will delete the one I created...or you may transfer your gravestone picture to the Memorial I created and then delete the Memorial you created. I have sent this request to you using the Edit button but no response so far, thus this public note. Helen was the wife of only a distant cousin of mine so relationship is not a factor. Thanks much,

Two Zenor Cemeteries in Clay County Indiana, they are mixed up. One is in Prairie City with 170 and the other is at Bowling Green with 38 interments. Could not find any Houk people in Prairie City. Also Bowling Green is overgrown with weeds, and Prairie City is well cared for.

Solomon and Rachel are in the Dist. 6, 7 Sep 1850 Fentress Co.,Fed Census
|Tammi Pickett||Jeremiah Young Sr|
I think you have the wife of his son Jeremiah Young listed. Mary was Jeremiah SR. wife I believe.
Mary Hannah Prouis
BIRTH 1758 • Yarm, Yorkshire, England

The marker photo posted on the memorial for Philip Conaster/Conatser in Fentress Co. is actually a marker for a different veteran with the same name who died at Andersonville in 1863/64. The latter's wife was Abigail and the former Mary. You might want to remove the photo.
|Johnny Meek||Nathaniel Meek #64429297|
I have put together notes from Gary Childs research. Since the date on the stone (18 SEP) and the will was probated (17 SEP 1827) that this could be Nathaniel Meek Sr. Please let me know if you feel this is strong enough evidence.
listed in the 1783-1786 tax lists of Morgan TWP, Washington Co., PA. He was listed in the 1790 census of Washington C., PA (1-6-3) In 1794 he signed an oath of allegiance in West Bethlehem TWP. He witnessed the will of William Iiams on 20 FEB 1795 in Washington Co., PA. The will abstract mentions "land bought of Charles Barns and Nathan Meek executor."
He paid taxes for land on Wolf Creek in Pulaski Co., KY from 1802 to 1812.
By the year 1817 Nathaniel Meek Sr. and most of his children had left Pulaski County, Kentucky and were in the process of migrating to Jennings County, Indiana. Nathaniel Meek Sr. and Basil Meek lived in close proximity to one another in Pulaski County for 16 to 18 years.
(ed. Note: DNA testing has shown that Basil and Nathaniel Meek are related)
They lived as neighbors until 1822 or so, when at that time, Nathaniel Meek Sr. returned to Pulaski County, Ky. Basil stayed in Jennings County, living near the children of Nathaniel Meek Sr. until 1832 or 1833 when at that time he moved to the state of Illinois where some of his own children had moved earlier. During his lifetime Nathaniel Meek is known to have resided in the states of Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Indiana. His will was dated 9 Oct 1826 and probated 17 Sep 1827 in Pulaski Co., KY. He left everything to his daughter Polly Spenser.
