I pursued old-fashioned genealogy in cemeteries, libraries, and courthouses for several decades and communicated with fellow genealogists by mail and telephone. Am now reveling in internet research, digital photography, and email. The latter make researching fifth cousins twice removed much more feasible, if not sensible.|
Find A Grave is a wonderful resource, and I decided to say thank you for the work of others by entering records from local cemeteries. Many thanks to Ione Sweers whose notebooks on the cemeteries of Anderson County and Dorothy Kipper Lickteig whose abstracts of newspapers in ANDERSON COUNTY EARLY GLEANINGS and ANDERSON COUNTY KANSAS CEMETERY BOOK make this easier.
If I have created a memorial for one of your close relatives and you wish me to add information or link them to parents or spouses, just let me know. If you request a transfer, please follow Find A Grave guidelines.
You are welcome to use my photos in your family genealogies, post them on Ancestry, etc.

|Dottie Gilder||Duplicate of LaRaeDougan|
Thanks for your note, advising me of the duplicate. I inherited this one, therefore I am unable to delete it myself. I have sent a note to Findagrave folks requesting it be taken down. Hopefully so. Thanks again Dottie
This is not my family. I added the memorials for a friend and she gave me the parents info. So I have never seen a death cert for Emma. I have removed the info from the bio section. The lady that asked me to add it is now deceased so I have no way to figure it out.

|Denise Trowbridge||Mary Tiera Farrow|
The biography of Mary Tiera Farrow buried in Garnett Kansas is incomplete. This amazing woman was the first female lawyer in Kanas City, first president of the Women's Bar association in Kansas, etc. etc. Check out http://www.kclibrary.org/?q=blog/week-kansas-city-history/dean-women-lawyers. Google her to find photos etc.
|Mike Ray||W. H. Harrison|
Thanks, Anita. The man living in Franklin, Franklin, Kansas (Wellsville) in 1885 was my gggrandfather living with his daughter Lucinda Ellen Harrison. He lived in Baldwin, Wellsville, and other areas of Kansas near those cities. Everything you gave me indicates the man buried in Garnet Cemetery is the correct one I am looking for. Thank you for the excellent information.

Thank you so very much for your hard work and diligence....it is appreciated. Just wanted to see if you have any more information on one of your memorials (W. H. Harrison, Memorial #79501129) in the Garnett, Kansas, cemetery. The name is right, the death date is in the correct range of dates, but my gggrandfather of that name was born in about 1807 and lived in Baldwin Kansas in 1885. To verify his identity, does your source of information mention his age, birth date, or any thing that could help here. I would appreciate any help you could possibly give.

|Pam Witherow||RE: Mary Reffett|
I am not going to pursue this, I will just take my Mary out of the "picture" and let Mr. Cross be the one to be contacted with any information necessary to better his Mary's Memorial. Thank you for letting me know of the duplication. Pam

|Joyce Starr||Minerva Mahan|
Do you know if there are any living relatives of
Minerva Mahan and William Mahan? Minerva was
my great grandmother's sister. Her name is Sarah A Toothaker, but I cannot find any trace of
her. She married Spencer Toothaker in Ohio.
Who were Minerva and Sarah's parents?? I've been
told it was Ide, but can't find any proof. Thanks for your devotion.
|Connie Caspers||Julia Ann Chapman|
I have found more information on Julia. She was b. 9-1-1831 in Madison, Madison County, New York to Warham Chapman and Thankful (Parker) Chapman.
Her father, Warham was b. 3-7-1783, d. 7-13-1820. She had a brother named Zenas, b. 9-7-1807 and he moved with Brigham and Julia Ann to Oconto Wisconsin, and on to Friendship Township. He raised his family there and died there. She also had a full sister named Louise b. 1819. Her mother remarred to Eber Lindsley and had about 5 more children. Julia's grandfather was Ezekial Chapman, a "frontier" minister.
Thanks for adding this information in to Julia's Find a Grave site.
