I pursued old-fashioned genealogy in cemeteries, libraries, and courthouses for several decades and communicated with fellow genealogists by mail and telephone. Am now reveling in internet research, digital photography, and email. The latter make researching fifth cousins twice removed much more feasible, if not sensible.|
Find A Grave is a wonderful resource, and I decided to say thank you for the work of others by entering records from local cemeteries. Many thanks to Ione Sweers whose notebooks on the cemeteries of Anderson County and Dorothy Kipper Lickteig whose abstracts of newspapers in ANDERSON COUNTY EARLY GLEANINGS and ANDERSON COUNTY KANSAS CEMETERY BOOK make this easier.
If I have created a memorial for one of your close relatives and you wish me to add information or link them to parents or spouses, just let me know. If you request a transfer, please follow Find A Grave guidelines.
You are welcome to use my photos in your family genealogies, post them on Ancestry, etc.

Hi Anita, George and Grace are my great grandparents. Would you be willing to transfer their Find A Grave to me? Thanks in advance!

Looks like these might be duplicates. John Calvin Spradlin; Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Anderson County, Kansas, USA: #113696038 and #79725602. Thanks for checking!

|Alan Barber||birth ate for James Barber (5079764)|
I appreciate the suggestion. I just looked at what I have on ancestry.com and I see that several censuses agree that James was born about 1845 (with the 1870 census saying abt 1846).
I apparently got the 6 Aug 1844 date from some other member's trees, but yes, the 1900 census specifically states Aug 1844.
Finally, I see that I had ignored that death certificate - probably because it names the wrong father & mother. (The parents of this James Barber were John Barber (1822-1857) and Mahala Sorrell (1826-1894), not Landis (Landers?) & Sallie Atchison.
However, it wouldn't be the first time that I was wrong about something. And censuses are notorious for being inaccurate. If you could possibly e-mail that death certificate (& anything else), I would greatly appreciate it.

I think your theory is probably correct. The Holdeman/Loucks people think he died 1915 but I don't think so. Laura and Charles divorced and both most likely remarried. I wish I could find a date and place of death for him but so far, no luck. Thanks for your help. Cynthia

Thank you for creating the memorial for my Great Grandfather. I was fortunate to have visited the grave a few years back with some cousins from the Lawrence Kansas area.
Thanks for the find and the burial unknown warning. I have never had one deleted but I have many so that would not be a good thing.

Thank you for the information.
I know there are more dishonest people on Find A Grave just like any other place. I have already incountered a couple.
|patricia hook||RE: James S. King|
I don't know what guidelines you mean. I thought you only had to be related thru a grandparent.
Could you tell what I have to do for a transfer.

James S. King Find A Grave Memorial# 79721093
I understand that James S. King change his surname when coming to Kansas from Stoneking to King.
Are you related to him.
I just requested to add link to his mother & Father. I Found his father's will which gives date of his date but not burial site in Ripley County, Indiana.
If you are not related I would like to have this memorial.
Samuel Stoneking is my 3 times great grand father so if James is his son but changed his surname he would be my 3 times great uncle.
