I was born and raised in Houston County. My father, TommieJohnson is buried at Wesley Chapel. I still miss him. I would like to thank everyone who has left a flower on his memorial. He was a wonderful man. My greatgrandmother Anne Lightfoot,is buried in Widnes, England. |
I am also the ggggrandaughter of Captain Samuel Harrison Bowen, and also James Jennings. Who both served our Country when the Tea Party first sprang into action. I am a member of The Houston County Historical Commission located in the Courthouse Annex in Crockett.
I believe very strongly in cemetery preservation. Cemeteries in most cases are the only history of those that came before us. Like rare books in a library once it's lost it's lost forever.My only intention is to create a HISTORICAL RECORDING of those who are "Gone, but not Forgotten" before their tombstones are lost forever. This is copied from a fellow graver: "Get out and photograph memorials while they are still readable. This site is primarily for GRAVE photos not genealogy, preserve those memories that are quickly fading."
For those who wonder about such things, when the number of memorials managed is higher than the number of memorials created, this is due to a few members who decided to transfer their memorials to multiple Findagrave contributors .... . and I am honored to be one of the contributors trusted to look after some of those memorials.
FROM THE FAQS:
How do I clean a headstone or grave marker?
Unless you are related to the interred on the headstone in question, DO NOT do anything to the headstone.
FROM THE FAQS: If you want to add from an obituary: Newspapers represent a very good source of information as a public record. What we ask is that those who index and memorialize the deceased from newspapers and other 3rd party accounts do so with full respect of copyright, refrain from adding information about living people, and respond generously to the family of the deceased.
I am happy to share ANYTHING that I post. I have no crazy rules, My pictures are your pictures. Feel free to beg, borrow, steal with no intent to return. I take pictures of headstones out of kindness ... not for my ego or for the "numbers."
Be kind to one another because - One day we will all be, 'just a name' etched in stone. "Nothing is ended until it is Forgotten."
This is the day the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! (and not spend the whole day working on Findagrave!)
~~~IN GOD WE TRUST~~~
|Connie BANKS- Smith||Charlie Hicks|
Carol, I'm confused about the family ties to grave site 48985969., there are several Charlie Charles Charley Hicks in my family. It seems some of the bio has been incorrectly merged . Wanted your input how to correct it.
I was just wondering if you might transfer my brother (Philip Woodrow Stowe, Jr. #82217860 - Pleasant Hill Cemetery) over to me. If you can I would love to manage his memorial. Thank you for your time.
|Charles B. Tobler||RE: Mack Roberts Sr|
That's him! Thanks a lot. I was searching on Mack and M. C. and there were so many, I gave up. Please add him there and I will take care of the rest. Charles B. Tobler
|Cheryl Roy||George Washington Hallmark|
Thank you so much for posting a picture of George Washington Hallmark and his wife Jane Duckworth. They are my fourth great-grandparents. My mother is elderly and will be thrilled to see a picture of them. Your generosity is truly appreciated.
|Susan Goolsby Courter||RE: Transfer Request|
I can't seem to get my mother's memorial transferred to my care.
Can you help me?
I've requested that they make the transfer, but no one has responded, and I don't know why.
Can you make any suggestions?
Thank you for your help.
