Known as The GraveWalkers we have been photographing & transcribing cemeteries for over 15 years. We love old cemeteries and appreciate when information is correctly presented. Find A Grave has been very important in our research.|
We are always happy to help with cemeteries in our area and are pleased for you to use our photos for your family files. You do not have to contact us for permission to use our photos but we would appreciate credit for our effort.
It is our goal to provide a photograph for family members who are not able to travel to our area to view the final resting place of their loved ones.

Thank you for your help and letting me know. If its in the cemetery records that he is buried there and can't find the headstone I guess it's possibly broken and buried over time. How can I find out who is all buried in this cemetery? Needing to know if his wife is also buried there too.

Is this cemetery the one that's on top of Cedar Creek Hill? If so, I was told my 4th Gr. Gpa was buried there. David Mabe 1824 - 1908/09. If this grave is in this cemetery could you take a picture of it for me please.
If this isn't the right cemetery would it be possible for you to go look for it ? Cope Cemetery is suppose to be at the top of the hill on the left before going down Cedar Creek Road. The road is very steep!! I was told the cemetery is back in the woods. There is a house then woods then cemetery then the Cedar Creek road.

Hello John & Retta,
Thank you for your photo on my GGGG Grandfather William "Billy" Newby's entry. I am very appreciative.
I have a mystery to solve. I found you, Bobby Newby and Wayne & Betty Newby through "Fallen Gravers, Memorial For" virtual cemetary by julia&keld. I just randomly clicked on a familiar name (Newby) in a long list of dedicated gravers to pay my respects.
Just by chance, I may have found long lost cousins. :)
Here is my Newby family history with the mystery to follow.
My Great Great Grandmother was Mary E. Newby Tullis Birth: Mar.8,1834 White County, Illinois, USA Death: Aug. 15, 1915 Springerton,White County, Illinois, USA, Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, IL, USA, on 1 January 1850 in White Co IL, she married Alexander Wilson Tullis Birth: Mar. 9, 1826 Cupar, Fife, Scotland, Death: Dec. 31, 1898 Springerton, White County, Illinois, Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, IL, USA a School Teacher in Millshoals, IL.
Her parents were John Newby(1798-1843)Sumner, Smith County, Tennessee, USA - Newby Cemetery Millshoals, White County, Illinois, USA & Rebecca Simpson Newby (1802-1900) Henry County, Virginia, USA - Shrewsbury Cemetery, Millshoals, White County, Illinois, USA.
John Newby's parents were William "Billy" Newby (1774-1844)Amherst County, Virginia/Newby Cemetery (photo), Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA & 1st wife - Nancy Pryor Newby (1777-1799)* Louisa County, Virginia/Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
2nd wife - Nancy Hankins Rowland Newby (1785-1865)* Pennsylvania, USA/Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
*There are three "Unmarked" Crypts. It is thought that they contain William, Nancy & Nancy's remains - Newby Cemetery, Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA.
William's parents were Whaley Newby (1721-1796) Lancaster County, Virginia/Warren County
Tennessee, USA. Burial: Unknown Specifically: Burial In Tennessee & Elizabeth Thomson.
While compiling my Newby info to share with Wayne Newby, I discovered a mystery to solve.
There are 2 photos of Newby Cemeteries, White County, IL & Grant(Smith County)County, Tennessee, USA, one on John Newby's entry (WC, IL) & one William "Billy" Newby's entry (SC, TN) on Find A Grave. One is 3 stones on the ground grouped together (John's entry) (WC, IL) added by: Epy & the other (William's entry) (SC, TN) is a recently uncovered hand chiseled field stone bearing the name "W Newby" (backwards N) added by: John & Retta Waggoner.
This has me confused. The photo of 3 stones on John Newby's page is not labeled.
I have never heard of Newby Cemetery in White County, IL and am wondering if John Newby (photo of marked stone) is actually buried in Shrewsbury Cemetery in Millshoals, White County, IL.
I am also wondering if the photo labeled (Hand engraved fieldrock Newby Cemetery
Smith County, Tennessee) of the stone "W Newby" (backwards N) on William "Billy" Newby's entry is actually his Father, Whaley Newby's grave, with William being buried where originally thought, with his wives Nancy Pryor Newby & Nancy Hankins Rowland Newby, in the three "Unmarked" Crypts.
This has put me on a mission.
I plan to contact the posters/keepers of the entries & photos and a cousin who lives next to Shrewsbury Cemetery to see if I can shine some light on the mystery.
I also plan to go there myself, gather info and take photos to add to existing family entries. Wish me luck. :)
My question for you is - Is there any way you can check into the possibility of the 3 unmarked stones and whether the stone you posted the photo of being Whaley Newby instead of William Billy Newby?
Thank you :)

On my memorial Find A Grave Memorial# 113297570 you posted two pictures. Can you please move them to Find A Grave Memorial# 69239453 as mine is a duplicate and I need to take it down. This movement of the pictures will be most appreciated.

Thank you so much for attaching a photo of Jane McCall Ray's gravestone. She is my 3rd great-grandmother. I live in Arkansas and very rarely get to Tennessee and would have difficulty finding the cemetery. I really appreciate your efforts.
