One of the best features of Find A Grave is that it provides a forum where years of genealogical research can be shared with others. Please let me know if you have additional biographical or statistical information for any of my memorials, as it is always welcome. The wealth of knowledge that others have sent to me through Find A Grave is astounding. |
If you are aware of links for parents and/or spouses that I have not yet added, I would appreciate it if you would use the edit tab to leave the name and Find A Grave number of the person or people who should be linked.
Thanks to all those who have generously shared your family stories and beautiful photos with me. I sincerely appreciate being allowed to add them to the memorials for your loved ones. The pictures and studio portraits that for years have been carefully preserved in family photo albums, add such a wonderful dimension to Find A Grave. They help create a memorial tribute that is all the more special and meaningful.
Transfers will be considered only if they comply strictly with Find A Grave guidelines. You must state your exact relationship to the deceased. Bulk surname transfers will not be made.
I have put a lot of time and effort into Find A Grave. I strive to make sure that the information on my memorials is as accurate as possible, but I am realistic and know that mistakes do happen. Please use the edit tab to leave a message regarding any errors or omissions that need to be corrected.
By working together, we can continue to build Find A Grave into a better and better site!
Note: 30 Sep 2013 marked a very sad day for all Find A Grave contributors when the founder of this website sold us out to ancestry.com.
I will continue to add to and maintain my memorials as long as Find A Grave remains a completely free website, open to all without charge.

|Craig Kilby||Now I'm Suspicious!|
Lynn, now I'm getting suspicious as to your sources of information as you show the mother of John Edward Avery as Elizabeth nee Draper. The only POSSIBLE place that could have come from is my own research, and I know that because the marriage is not correct. It was back in very early days and I somehow found or dreamed this marriage, and have never, ever, ever been able to find it again, and I don't think it happened.
I lot of what you have posted on my family seems to come almost directly from research. Please enlighten me as to your methodology!
|Craig Kilby||Delia Avery Brownfield|
I don't know if you can edit her or not, but she is the daughter of John Edward Avery #63348372 and Sarah W. Hatch (her maiden name was White but there is no document giving her a full middle name) #63348371
|Craig Kilby||Your Information Sources?|
Lynn, in seeing all the detailed information you are providing for my immediate family members, I have to wonder where you are finding it? Some of it could only be had from death certificates or hospital records, which I don't think are that easily available to the general public. These causes of death particularly, are NOT in their obituaries. VERY CURIOUS!
|Craig Kilby||Stone for Arthur M Kilby|
Lynn--I just added my FIRST photo on findagrave. It is the stone of Arthur M. Kilby which is no longer standing. You will want to update your notes on him. The caption to the photo I just added explains that it is an old picture, but that caption is not plain to see unless you click on the photo.
This is kind of frustrating seeing all this research on my own family and not being able to directly edit it. But that's what I get for being so late to the party!
|Craig Kilby||RE: Mary|
Lynn--I'm not buying it. And certainly not from an internet site.
The Avary family bible of the father, John W. Avary, was presented in evidence in a chancery suit in Franklin County, Missouri in c1870 and no such middle names were given there. Yes, they had middle initials but I don't know that they stood for anything and I really doubt "Patrick" and "Newton." The person's source seems to be some book put out in 1992 on Benjamin Hawkins.
I have never found any evidence of such middle names, and this is a family I have researched thoroughly. If any such real evidence shows up, I'm all ears.
|Craig Kilby||Mary "Patrick" Avery & Nancy "Newton" Avery, Fee Fee|
Lynn, I am most curious as to your source of these middle names for these two daughters of John W. Avery and his wife Elizabeth. I have never seen those middle names before, and neither of them ring any bells with the families the Avarys of Amelia County, VA were associated with before their move to St. Louis County.
And notice I spelled it AVARY. The spelling was used that way as late as John Edward Avary's marriage to Sarah W. Hatch in 1855. Then it changed to AVERY. That AVARY spelling is still the most common spelling for this family to this day (e.g. Roger Avary, the film producer.)
Back to my query, what is the source of Patrick and Newman as middle names for these daughters? That would be quite a breakthrough if they are correct.
|Craig Kilby||Fee Fee Cemetery|
Hi Lynn. I am new subscriber to findagrave but an old hand at genealogy, and you have provided some information on my family I did not know! Nearly all of my ancestors are buried at Fee Fee, and though I now live and work in Virginia I had some spare time and thought I'd pop by. What a pleasant surprise! I will be adding information to many of the people you have placed here as time permits.
My surnames: Avery, Blackwell, Branneky, Brownfield, Voges. Those are just direct ancestors.
Please let me know if I am posting things in the right places.
|Stephen Tuttle||Joseph Belcher (Hartford Cemetery)|
Thanks for posting the info about Joseph Belcher. He is an older brother of my GGGG-grandfather, Berry Belcher. Their parents, John and Martha (Johnston) Belcher, were married in Washington Co, VA but soon moved into eastern TN where 3 of their sons were born. I was able to find Berry's family bible in the possession of his great-granddaughter, Martha (Belcher) Vickery, a descendant of Berry's youngest son, Henry Clay. I was wondering where you were able to come up with Joseph's birth and death dates...what is your source?
It's always fantastic to find this form of info for someone that far back, especially in an area where few records were kept other than marriages.
Again, thank you for posting this info and thanks for all your contributions.
Thank you for the obit. I think an obit help family members find their love ones and friends no matter the years.
