Native of Mississippi my hobbie is genealogy . My husband David and I have lived in central Texas for last 21 years.Have worked on my husbands side as well as mine, his roots are in central Florida.I love helping others with their family trees. Just recently found out about Find A Grave don't know how I hadnt found it sooner but plan on adding as many of my cemetery pictures as I can in hopes of helping someone else.|

The Probate docket had 7 pages (that I scanned, I can send them to you, if you like).
On the first page is given - D.A. Orviss died Sep 5, 1895 and Louisa R. Orviss, his wife died Oct 8, 1916. There was no will left, but the probate packet included letters of temporary administration because the Orviss’ – “died possessed of a certain claim against the Government of the United States of America by reason of certain cotton belonging to the said D. A. and Louisa R. Orviss which was seized and taken possession of by force by and under the terms of the military authorities of the United States of America after the first day of June, 1865.” Dated Dec 21, 1917 - filed for record Dec 24, 1917
Nothing else was in there about the Government case or about any other settling of their accounts. Odd since they left no heirs.
However, when I googled D. A. Orviss - I found there are "his papers" at the Brisco Library in Austin. The link has short biography showing.

The photograph came from Louise's funeral service bulletin. My wife and I attended her funeral service on July 2, 2014. She is my wife's aunt, her mother's brother's wife. Though Louise was a sister-in-law to my wife's mother, they were more like sisters who both had a first name Louise.
I am pleased that the photograph brought you pleasure. Although the photo is not mine to give, I feel confident that her sons would endorse your use of the photo in any way except for profit.

I will make sure you get a copy and if there is any info you want added just let me know.

I am doing a booklet on Joshua Creek Cemetery. Joshua Creek is very special to me and there is a lot of history there. Could I get your permission to use your photos there giving credit to you for them in the booklet? I am researching all names and putting what I find on them in the booklet. Plus I am locating graves that no longer have stones using the old inventory.
