"My feelings are in each family there is one who seems called to find the ancestors. To put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve.
To me, doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts but, instead, breathing life into all who have gone before."

I don't really have anything I call super solid on John James Wilson (1785-1829). What I do have is basically pieces of family lore (not even my family) which I have accumulated. I have his father as a James Madison Wilson (1763-1829) who was a soldier of unknown rank, and who's father before him was also Captain James Madison Wilson (1734-1819) who I believe was in the revolutionary war. I do not know if his rank is an Army rank (O-3) or Naval Rank (O-6 - basically a full Colonel if in the Army). I don't really have any specifics other than this, including wives names and families. Again none of that is really super solid, so it would bear a bit of additional research before claiming it with certainty. Hope this helps.

Hi Kathy, Thank you for the heads-up about the duplicate memorials and also for the obituary for my great-granddaddy. I posted it immediately.

I found his obit and also an article about his death (he died in a car crash). How would you like to me get them to you? They are in JPEG format.

I found just a small bit of relevant information: Mary and Walter Cooper appear to have had eight children, all born in Texas. The Cooper children were: Charlie E. born in 1902, Pauline born in 1905, Eva Born in 1907, Mattie R., born in 1909, Frank M., born in 1911, Ernest & Everett both born in 1915, and Leslie Nelson born Jan. 7, 1919 who appears to have died October 15, 1999 and is buried in Polk, TX. The Cooper family lived in Texas in 1910. By 1920 and through to at least 1935, they were in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma but the eldest (Charlie) was no longer living with the family. Then, it appears that by 1940, Mary, Walter and two children (Pauline and Leslie) were in Logansport, Louisiana. Mary took in borders and Walter was a sale promoter working for a local merchant.

I found where Clarence is buried as well but there is no headstone. I will get a picture of his resting place to post later today. If you are looking for dates (birth, death, etc) I will be at the library next Wednesday and can see if I can find his obituary notice if you would like. Just let me know. Kristina
