WINTER 2016 MESSAGE:|
We recently moved to Salem, Oregon, so are behind on our edits. But we will get to yours as soon as we can! Sorry for any delay.
My husband and I enjoy finding monuments for other people and am extremely grateful to the volunteers who have found my own people for me. We've been working on finding the little pioneer cemeteries in the area and putting their inhabitants online. Four of our memorial pages even helped to catch a gravestone thief. Cemeteries are extremely vulnerable to vandalism, theft, and the damage of time and weather. We appreciate all of the volunteers out there who are working so hard to document them before they are lost to history.

I'm not a numbers addict or collector, but I adhere to Findagrave policy:
◊Find A Grave's primary purpose is a graves registration website.
◊Find A Grave's secondary purpose is a memorialization/remembrance site.
◊Find A Grave's tertiary purpose is a genealogical resource.
Transfers are only made within the guidelines set up by Find A Grave. These guidelines are in place for a reason - whether one cares to accept them or not. I am not going to debate what the owner has deemed acceptable for his site with members who choose not to agree with the guidelines. "The ultimate goal should be to have meaningful, accurate memorials that honor those who have passed away, regardless of who created the memorial or who maintains it." I am willing to consider transferring ownership to you if you have a close family member among my records. I rarely transfer relationships more distant than first cousin... just having someone "in my family tree" or "a relative" will not elicit a transfer.
If you want information added to a memorial, go to the memorial and use the "Edit" tab to send me the information-- including family links. I will add information to the memorial, I do not transfer just because someone wants to add links or other information. Bottom line: what are you planning on doing with the entry that I haven't already done or am unable to do?
On the other hand, if you upload family photos or in some other way add value to the memorial, I am much more willing to transfer. I will always transfer a memorial if you sponsor it.
I welcome all corrections to my own work. Some records were imported using OCR so have inevitable errors, both from the original records and from machine interpretation. I am only human and make mistakes, too, but will always make it priority to correct them.

Hi Carrie & Allen,
Sorry if I am a thorn in your side. Thank you for making the edit of Sarah DuBois's capital B. She is ID #30867993
I do still wonder if you will transfer her memorial to me as she is my grandmother, I've added a photo and sponsored her memorial as you suggest in your bio section. My ID number is 48912622. Again, I thank you for being the initial creator of her memorial. .. I'm guessing the transfer just slipped between the cracks...

If that is your wish, I am only trying to avoid confusion for the family and be sure the information is correct. I see that you have made a note on the memorial and I hope that you have also contacted the other party to ask for his cooperation. I sincerely hope that you will honor my request to add the link to her parents. Thank you for your efforts to help others with their family history.

Dear Carrie and Allen, I wonder if you would transfer the memorial for my (paternal) grandmother, Sarah J (Taft) DuBois to me. I am grateful for your getting her on Find A Grave! I have uploaded a photo I have of her from 1911. Was fortunate to meet her, but only once in my lifetime.
Thank you. Polar Bear Mom #48912622

|Jane Feldmann Cook||Jos. Dresbach photo request|
Hi, I saw your photo request for Jos. Dresbach at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Baltimore. I wanted to let you know that the last time I was at his gravesite (it was years ago) that there was no individual gravestone for him, only a lot marker. I do a lot of photo requests for that cemetery and am sorry there is not better news unless any family has gone to replace a stone, which is pretty rare. I would probably not go for a search for him unless I find myself in that section for another reason. Do you want a photo if it is only the lot marker?

I have transferred the Dreisbachs to you. I found them by accident at Fairmount looking for my relatives and just hadn't had the time to put in their gravestones yet. I was trying to catch up today and when I put them through saw your photo request come up.
Hope you are enjoying your summer.

Thank you for searching for a grave marker for her. I'm sorry there wasn't one...
