NEW SAC FUNCTION
I sent a few SAC's to you a couple of weeks ago using the new edit feature which makes life a lot easier. Just go to your profile page and hit the new edit tab on the upper right corner. Then just follow the directions.

West Rome Fergusons
Hello,
At Lenawee Museum, an obituary card for Jerry Ferguson:

Jan. 27, 1893 Geneva: d. at res. of his bro-in-law, taking away another of Lenawee co. pioneers. He was buried at West Rome Sun.

From Hudson Gazette, also Ad. D. Times and Expos. 1-23-1893 p 3 col 2

-----------------

From Gravestone Records of Lenawee County, Vol. 2 by Harriet Cole Bowen, page 76:

Ferguson, J.E. b. Aug. 26, 1812 d. no ins.
Matilda L., wf. b. May 28, 1816 d. Jan. 7, 1882
Sarah B. S. b Jan 17, 1818 d. Feb. 8, 1896
Emma, dau. H. & S. d. Aug. 26, 1860 ae 16 days

----------------------

Note: I removed the photos and replaced them with the new photos I took yesterday (except the lot photo) I was wrong about the side Sarah's inscription is on--it's on the left or north side of the monument.

I did not detect any other inscriptions on the other two sides of the monument, but it was very difficult to tell as it is so soiled.

The first headstone to the north (two stones left of the big monument) is a "Mother" only stone. I don't know if it really belongs to the Fergusons or not.

I do not know if the info. for Emma is inscribed on the monument (and (I just wasn't able to uncover it) or if it is on a headstone that is misplaced.

Matilda Ferguson
Hi I haven't had a chance to get out there yet, but I looked at Jeremiah's memorial and I noticed his birthplace. Have you checked with the historical society there? See this

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyrensse/history.htm

perhaps they can shed more light?

On Wed. I'm at Lenawee Museum and I will look for cemetery tombstone records and obits on the Fergusons.

Ferguson's
Hi Lois...

You're very welcome. I need a little help tho before I can post the Find A Grave...

You mentioned Matilda but I need to know which one. The one who was married to Jeremiah Ferguson...what was her maiden name?

Ferguson again
I'm getting ready for work now, but I just wanted to add this--as if this isn't hard enough--at the bottom of the JE and Matilda side (the front) there is a long verse that is tiny!

Ferguson stone
Our method is to simply use water, soil (surrounding the stone) and light. I will see if we can do it because it's easier with a helper (husband). We have brought out some names on tops of the small headstones in this way when they seem completely smooth. I am busy next few days, but I will get back. Diane M.

Fergusons at W. Rome, Lenawee Michigan
Hello, I took and posted photos for Matilda Ferguson. I explained what I saw in the captions to the photos. If you would like to see the other photos of the very soiled side of the monument, as well as the other two headstones, let me know. A plain soft brush may bring out the words on the mnt., while a damp one may bring out the tops of the two headstones. If I can get my husband away someday we will go look. But I can fwd. the other photos if you'd like to see.
