Bio and Links
Bio Photo I'm a retired teacher from Wisconsin who became interested in genealogy in the fall of 2012. I'm looking forward to learning more about ways to find out information about my ancestors and my husband's ancestors.

I am more than happy to make additions and/or corrections to memorials. Please use the edit key rather than leaving a public message. If you are a relative and would like to have a memorial transferred to you, please submit that request through the edit key as well. If I am not a relative, I will be happy to transfer the memorial to you.

When I take photos at cemeteries, I like to take a wide shot if possible to include other family members. I usually create a caption for the photo saying who is in the photo. To see the caption, just double click on the photo.

I am granting permission to use any photos that I have taken for any non-commercial use. It would be appreciated if you would acknowledge that the photo came from me. Please feel free to use them on family trees and other websites.

Please check out the virtual cemeteries that I have been working on. If you have any information that you would like to share with me, please use the edit key or send me a public message through Find A Grave.

I enjoy photographing entire cemeteries, creating new memorials, and adding photos to existing memorials. I try to do a quick search to see if I can document family relationships. Before I go on to the next cemetery, I try to make sure that duplicate memorials have been removed and all memorials are actually in the correct cemetery (when possible).

Listed below are the cemeteries I have completed so far by county. The first year listed is the year I photographed the entire cemetery. The second year, if listed, is the year I last walked through the entire cemetery again looking for updates.

Note: 99.9% of all Find A Grave contributors are wonderful people. However, there are a few people who operate outside of the Find A Grave guidelines. There are some people who create memorials for relatives and list them as "burial unknown". They wait for photo volunteers like me to find their relatives and create memorials for them in a given cemetery. Then after the relative is found, the person sends a request to remove the "duplicate" record. This has happened to me on more than one occasion! Please don't do this to Find A Grave contributors who work hard walking local cemeteries and taking countless photos.

If I happen to find one of your relatives you have been looking for, please send me a thank you through the edit key, remove your memorial, and request a transfer. I will be more than happy to honor your request. I might even be willing to move my photos over to your memorial and delete mine under certain circumstances.

If you decide to not play by the Find A Grave rules, I will report the incident to Find A Grave, and let them resolve the situation.

RE: Robert Johnstone
Thanks for accepting the edit promptly! Believe me, I've had tons of photos of old stones that I've stared at, cross-eyed, like those 3-D hidden pictures, only to have someone else be able to immediately see the name or immediately see it the next time I look at the photo.

There has been a somewhat loosely collective effort by some contributors to help reduce the number of memorials listed without surnames - they aren't easily searchable unless you know what cemetery they are in, which is often not the case. When I've had a few minutes of free time, I've been searching on a letter and entering the last name as "1234" in the search window - which brings up all memorials starting with that letter with nothing in the last name field.

Since May, the number of blank surname entries has been reduced from almost 77k to just over 62k. It's not a large percentage of total site memorials, but hopefully it will help even a few more people find memorials for their friends/family and will ultimately help cut down on accidental duplicates.

Hello,

I removed the memorial for Frieda. I have not looked into it but your suggestion was enough to convince me. Thank you.

RE: Otto Rimpler
Hi Janet,
Sorry for the delay in replying to your message. Yes, I think "PVT. 2 WIS. INF. N. G." looks good for Otto's inscription. And I agree that it is always so much easier to read a faded stone when you have something to compare it to. I recently uploaded an whole cemetery to Find a Grave and if it wasn't for a list of names I don't think I could have entered a quarter of the photos into the system. In terms of relation, yes I am distantly related to Otto through marriage (I am directly related to the Krueger family). If you would like to transfer the page to me I would be more than happy to manage it but if you would like to keep managing it that is fine with me as well. Whatever is easier for you. Thank you so much for all the work you have done on Find a Grave and for quickly updating Otto's page.
All the best and happy summer,
Yolande

RE: Hattie F. Walker #112747157
Barbara (Drozd) Sedlacek was my Grandmother, and Lillian (Sedlacek) Kunzer was my Mother. Hattie (Sedlacek) Walker could be related, but it's a name I haven't heard of before. When my Grandpa (Joseph Sedlacek) and Grandma got married, both had been in previous marriages. Therefore Hattie could have been a daughter on my Joseph's side of the family. Again I've never heard the name. Please let me know if you find any connection. Thank you.
