I love this site! I appreciate the work of people who make these memorials and those who take the photos to match. Because of the work of others I have found several 'long-lost' ancestors. I don't know that I would have found them any other way. Thank you to all who have made an entry, taken a photo, made a transfer, or created links between family members. |
I am a retired teacher and I live in Michigan. I have been making entries and taking photos of the cemeteries around me in several counties. I am not related to the majority of the people for whom I've created memorials. I'm happy to edit these entries or transfer them.
I think it's wonderful that there are people on FAG who like to add more information to the memorials than just that which is shown on the gravestone or recorded in a cemetery transcript. They dig into local records and look for birth and marriage and death information. I am constantly in the process of doing that for my ancestors and relatives and friends. But I also appreciate the efforts by those who add just name, date, and plot information. It's these people who help us find our relatives' burial locations in the first place. Isn't it wonderful that we have both kinds of volunteers on FAG!
I'm not the best photographer around, but I'm learning as I go. Please feel free to use any photo I've taken.

I did leave the message on the memorial page I thought. It's Robert Lewis Bruce and Alice Lucy Bruce they are buried in Pinehill cemetery in Cheboygan. They are my grandparents and I wanted to add some information about my grandpa.
|Sherri Czuchra||RE: Claiming all of Cheboygan|
Oh "submit the corrections and you'll be happy to make the corrections." Does that translate into; you are going to hold onto all the people in Cheboygan, like you have been doing? Is that how you answer a question? That is exactly what you have been doing and the work is not getting done and the family members continue to not have their own family. Is that what you are saying?
|Sherri Czuchra||RE: Claiming all of Cheboygan|
I am more than aware of the new changes.
They ARE MY FAMILY members, not my husbands.
As far as being rude...you are extremely disrespectful to family members wishing to place more feelings into their memorial pages than can be placed there by someone who is doing a data key punch service. Therefore, you should take a double look at who is being rude. All I did was state the facts.
|Sherri Czuchra||Claiming all of Cheboygan|
Are you still claiming all of the people in Cheboygan or can people such as myself now update these records to share with their families?
You just holding onto to them all to "sort out" your husband's side of the family is extremely unfair when they can be updated. Several people are asking why I am not updating them and I explain how you will not transfer them to family members.
Currently, the O'Connor family in St. Francis needs to be updated. No one is linked together, you have people named Mrs. Frank O'Connor, you have incorrect or no dates at all. I can have all of them completed within 15 minutes.
Consider how many people you hold back from doing there family trees due to your selfishness in holding on to them. If it turns out one is a relative of your husband...then it is a win win situation for all involved.

I see that you are the contributor of a number of Petersons in Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee, Michigan. I was wondering if you could give me all of the names of these people. I think I have most of them (Peter, Sophia, Charles, Peter O, wife and children), but I am wondering if there aren't more that I'm missing. Please let me know and if you have any other information about this family that you would like to share, I would love to hear about it!
Thanks so much,

You are most welcome. I was very happy when I saw your grandmas
stone. Those guys really did the work and on their own volition. Few
town agencies would go so far to make restorations
|Mona Rhone||John Gaylord 1714-1778|
According to the book "Families of Ancient New Haven" by Donald Lines Jacobus, John Gaylord was born in Durham, Ct and died in Bristol, CT.
While looking for Benjamin Gaylord, I found this information and thought you might want it. There are several pages of Gaylords in this book and if you are interested, I can scan the pages and send them to you in an email. The date range is 1641 to the mid 1800's. These books were written in 1923.
|Sara Buntyn||RE: Crawley-Futral Cemetery|
I originally found the information in a book at Clayton Library in Houston. The title is _Cemeteries of Spalding County, Georgia, vol.1_, published by the Griffin Historical and Preservation Society in 1986.
I searched for it on the web just now and found that the society has digitized all five volumes of the set.
The link for vol. 1 is:
The CF cemetery is listed on p. A-9. The directions from 1986 are not as accurate now, but I was able to locate the cemetery while on a visit in 2011. If you look at the CF cemetery page here at Find A Grave, you will see it on the map - if you zoom in, you will see a little parallelogram - that is the exact location from GPS coordinates.
|Marshall Lloyd||RE: Phaneufs|
Sorry yes those are Minne and Charles' children. Let me see what I can find about your husband's family. Joseph Phaneuf had a brother Maxime Faneuff and Julianne had a sister Hermine Beaugrand. They too married, so their descendants are my double cousins. There are a variety of spellings.
|Bill Powers||Nazareth Baptish Church Cemetery, Zebulon|
I tried to find the Nazareth Baptish Church Cemetery in Zebulon, Ga and could not. I finally figured out it has changed its name to Open Arms Baptist Church. Do you know how we go about changing the name of a church/cemetery? Bill from Williamson, GA
