Bio Photo SPECIAL NOTE:

Please do NOT hesitate to contact me if you wish that a family member's memorial be removed. I understand that the resting places of loved ones are very special and personal. My intention to create these memorials is to share and hopefully help those who are seeking out burials for either family research or for viewing family markers. Personally, I have a memorial set up for my father and I don't have it in me to add a picture of his gravestone. Just too final I guess. I have special pictures of him up for family to see. If someone else were to add a picture of his tombstone I would prob. ask that they take it down. This is very personal to me. So I understand how someone might feel about this...I totally respect your request and understand completely.

*******************************************

This is a picture of my son who had accompanied me on one of many trips to old cemeteries in the area. He's leaning against a tombstone of a fellow who died almost 200 years ago! I had taken a rubbing of this stone when I was my son's age....Still have the rubbing!!! Stored away for safe keeping. Someday maybe someone will contact me asking about the tombstone...I can't even get a good picture of it anymore, it's leaned over so far!

This is a big reason why I like going around these old cemeteries....taking pictures of the old stones.....to preserve a bit of the past...or should I say...monuments to the memory of the people of the past...before they slip away....crumble into dust...like so many already have...

***AN IMPORTANT NOTE***

I ask that the images which i have worked VERY HARD to capture NOT be copied and published to another websight without my permission. Images are not allowed to be copied for publication and resale. Personal use for family genealogy is fine but it's always nice to be asked and credited. This is a simple thing to do and goes along way to make me feel that i'm doing something good for others.

Nothing bothers me more than to come across a photo that i have taken and find someone else's name underneith and/or no credit given at all for my work.

I also ask that any picture attached by others to my memorial pages be of a respectful nature to the person being memorialized as well as being respectful to family and friends. It's not an ARTSHOW either. No over the top "creativity".

This site is not meant to be for a competition to see who creates the most memorials. Not a race to see who gets to the cemetery first to get that shot. Not meant to be for those who strive for quantity and NOT quality.

This site is for those of us who enjoy taking that stroll through a cemetery and seeing beyond the gravestones to the people being remembered. More important for those who would like to "FINDAGRAVE" and be so thrilled and thankful for doing so.

Amos Starkweather - Wheatville Cemetery
Hi there.

As is often the case with these old pioneer cemeteries, there are often several names for the same property.

When I was researching the close-proximity historic marker, the USGS maps indicate that this is Reed Cemetery.

However, after your note I did further investigation, and have discovered that although it is commonly referred to as Wheatville Cemetery, it is "signed" as Norton Cemetery, USGS refers to as Reed Cemetery, and there are other references online to White's Cemetery.

So I guesss we're all correct, although I would presume that Wheatville is the most common (and therefore, correct) name.

I do have a couple of pics of the marker and the gravesites, if you'd like.

Cheers, Pete

Dupont
Donna, email me please; robertacyr175@verizon.net; a Dupont cousin has gotten in touch with me this week, her great grandmother was Elizabeth Matilda Dupont daughter of Charles and Matilda (Paquette) Dupont. Elizabeth Matilda Dupont married Louis Edmond Porier/Peryer. (3rd cousin once removed to me). She'd love to know another cousin.

Owczarzak
Hi Donna!
You guys do ok during the storm? We are in Hamburg so we got buried, but were warm and safe. Kids loved having off for two weeks, but now they've lost 2 of their days during Christmas break.

Hey, are you related to the Owczarzak family? I see the cute little girl with one of the pictures you added as well as the pix of Stanley and Mary and figured you must be.

I'm working on this family for a friend of mine. She would be the great-grand daughter of Stanley and Mary Ann. Is there a connection?

permission please
May I have permission to use the photos of Harriet Crofs tombstones at Sodom/Walker Cemetery. What beautiful photos you have taken. So impressed that the stone is still standing and in great condition! I will certainly credit you with your photos!
Harriet Crofs was my 3rd great grandfather's first wife. So sad she died so young.
Thank you again!

RE: Hartman
Hi Donna, Thank you for the update on the condition of the stones. It's always so disheartening to see the damage, and be so far away that you can't do a thing about it. I am so excited to have all of these new relatives to research. I appreciate all of your hard work photographing and posting to this site. I have had great success with Find a Grave and find it to be such a wonderful resource. Thank you again. -Leah

Can't thank you enough for you information regarding the photo of my g uncle's tombstone.
Do you know if the county or city clerk can furnish more information on the deaths at the Craig Colony.
