|Anna Taylor||Pleasant and Sarah Chitwood|
Hello. I dont know if anyone will see this but PLEASE e-mail me at AnnaRTaylor@hotmail.com
I am searching for my bilogical father! His name is Lawerance C. My mother forgot his last name. He is from Alabama or at least lived there when they met in Leesburg (Lake County), Florida.
I recently did a DNA test from ancestry.com and it said I am a descendant of Pleasant and Sarah (Cowan) Chitwood. I am trying seriously hard to find out if this is on my fathers side. Because if so I can mayyyybe wittle it down to his name and find him! So anyone who has any info or could help me. I am new at this. That would be sooo soo awesome. Thank you!

1. I believe the above to be Elizabeth Ann Chitwood. She married 1st Lewis Leonard Angel, 2nd possibly a J.H. Smith, 3rd Tom Bray.
2. I have attached the death certificate for Betty Ann Bray which shows her parents to be Jimmie Chitwood & Martha Thompson. Death certificate shows burial in Chitwood Cemetery.
3. DOB on headstone apprears to be 1879 not 1872. Not sure if you know this but you can click on the headstone & hold down "ctrl" key & tap "+" key repeatedly to expand the picture to maximum size browser will display. Doing that the 1872 says 1879 to me. To return browser to normal size, hold down "ctrl" key & tap "-" key repeatedly until desired size is displayed.
Thoughts on Betty Ann?

My wife's side of our families are descended from the Chitwood's. Martha (Mattie) Chitwood daughter of Shadrack and Margaret Carpenter Chitwood. I believe she was born in Rutherford, NC. circa 1795 (?). She married Isaac Hughes circa 1807(?). I have come across info that he drowned at a place called "The Falls of the Ohio" circa 1828. There is also info that stated that Mattie was captured by Indians at the age of three and was released or escaped at age twelve. I have never heard this story and am trying to confirm it. I have info on Chitwood and Hughes if you are interested.

Rick, on the edit I put in for on Isham, on his name, have been researching the information that I received, really you probably I already know this and am sorry for any inconvience, but I could not find any documents supporting, Isham's name being "Thomas Isham "Sharp" Laxton; His brother is Thomas and I did find tree's supporting the Thomas Isham name but there is no historical documents I could find. Not even a Letter T. So this is closed for me unless you have a question. Yes I will research before I request edit from now on. lol

Hello Rick, Margaret Chitwood info on shows she died at Deaconess Hosp. in Cinti. Is that correct & would you know what she died from? I never knew she was even living in Cinti.
She is our Great Aunt.
Thank you & Blessings,
I am helping my friend try to find out about her great grandmother, whose name was Anna Chitwood. The family lore says she was born in Whitley Co, KY about 1865-1870, then married Alexander Shepherd and had 3 children Maude, Wolford, and Myrtle. The three children show up in the 1900 census with their grandfather C.W. Shepherd with their parents no where to be found.
I was just wondering in your searches have you run across a Chitwood that marries Alexander Shepherd. I am beginning to think she was probably born across the border in Scott Co, TN instead.
Thanks for listening :) God Bless, Chris
