Bio and Links
Bio Photo Most of my work is from "mowing the rows" in our local cemeteries or in those that are special to me when I get a chance to visit. I try to be very thorough in what I do post to this site. My favorite part of contributing to Find A Grave is walking the cemeteries and taking photos. ACCURATE cemetery documentation is very important, and this is why I do what I do.
.
I love to research and link families, and add biographical information - please use the Edit tab and send me any information you would like to have added, and I will add based on the rules for bios set in the Find A Grave FAQ's.
.
I transfer only within the four-generation
Find-A-Grave guidelines.
.
PLEASE carefully check the cemetery in which you want to list a memorial (it doesn't hurt to quickly check the county too) BEFORE you list it, as one may already exist for that person. Duplicate memorials for the same person, ("Dupes"), whether accidental or intentional, are not allowed by F-A-G. Duplicates erode the quality of this site and are problematic for many reasons. I will send you a friendly SAC if I see one.
.
It is very sad that quite a few contributors continue to misuse this site and post entries as permanent BURIAL UNKNOWN, both recent deaths and those 100 years ago or more.
This is Find A GRAVE, not a memorial site for generations of folks who have passed on and we do not know where they are buried, or for certain what happened to their remains.
.
I do not add entries for those with unknown dispositions (Burial Unknown) to Find A Grave. I also will not link my managed memorials to those without proper dispositions. Please do not link any BURIAL UNKNOWN entries to the memorials I manage; I will request the links to be removed if I become aware they have been linked.
.
PLEASE realize this is a GRAVES REGISTRATION SITE, not a place for you to build your family tree :) If you do not know where the person was buried, or the final disposition of the remains, you should not be listing the person on FIND A GRAVE.
.
The most recent FAQ's regarding the purpose of this site:
What is Find A Grave?
Find a Grave's mission is to find, record
and present final disposition information
from around the world as a virtual cemetery experience.

Memorial contributions to Find A Grave should fulfill that mission - registration
of the final disposition.
If the memorial contribution corresponds with only the
main mission, then the memorial fulfills its purpose as part of Find A Grave's mission.

Find a Grave memorials may contain rich content including pictures, biographies and more specific information. Members can
leave remembrances via ‘virtual flowers' on the memorials they visit, completing the virtual cemetery experience.

Find A Grave is a resource for anyone in finding the final disposition of family,
friends, and ‘famous' individuals.

.
Find A Grave is definitely a genealogical RESOURCE, but not a genealogical SITE..... There's a difference :)

Inez Snowden Duplications
Hi Karyn - Don't know what happened to create all the duplications. Hope I deleted all but the main one with photos. Thanks so much for you pointing these out.

RE: Adkins Cemeteries
Karyn, It appears that my earlier reply to you was just 180 degrees wrong. I will correct the photos for Motlany Adkins so that the photo appears correctly only for memorial 24085258.

RE: Adkins Cemeteries
Karyn, I have deleted the photo for Motlany Adkins at Adkins Cemetery. I left it with the memorial in Adkins Cemetery at Jellico Creek because I do remember visitng there and taking pictures. To my knowledge I have never been to the Adkins Cemetery. I am not sure how the photo got posted to the second cemetery site. One of the problems with unmapped cemeteries is cemeteries with the same or similar names are often confused. As you noted there appears to be other duplicates due to confusion, but I believe they are two different cemeteries. If you find other errors, please let me know. I want to be as accurate as possible. Thanks - Larry

Finding exact locations for cemeteries
Karyn - I happened upon an exchange of messages you had with another F-A-G contributor, about two similarly named cemeteries close to each other. I wanted to share with you that I have had good results correcting cemetery names and locations in the F-A-G cemetery correction forum with the help of some free software you may have heard of called Google Earth. It is particularly helpful when two cemeteries are very close to each other. You can see satellite pictures of any place in the world, and you can zoom down close enough to see fences and little gravestones in most cases. The key thing I thought you might like is that when you hover your cursor over a satellite image of a cemetery Google Earth reads off the exact latitude and longitude coordinates, using the same decimal format that F-A-G uses. So I no longer have to use my GPS and go to the location (and then convert the Garmin GPS results to decimal degrees as F-A-G requires). I can do it all on my computer. I have been able to clear up quite a few errors in cemetery names and locations that way. When I submit the lat-long coordinates in the cemetery fix forum, and present my argument for why two cemeteries should be merged, or not merged, or have the map location corrected, the forum admin folks seem to find my arguments persuasive, and almost always do what I ask. I thought you might like to do the same. Regards, - David

RE: Ward Photos
You're welcome! I was scratching my head on the edits. I tried researching them, but ran out of time. My computer is so slow!

James & Martha Edwards
James and Martha are buried in the Antioch Baptist Church Memorial Gardens. The entry for them in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery is incorrect and should be deleted. These are two distinct cemeteries, located about 1/4 mile apart. The picture on Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery showing the Memorial Gardens sign is incorrect. The Memorial Gardens is a new cemetery located at the church.

Burial Unknown
I have removed the memorial 141468171. My intentions were for this to only be in my virtual cemetery and not visible to the public. I was trying to fill in some missing links so I could link family members together and 14168171 was a link to someone that is on Findagrave. My intentions were not to break the rules--I only wanted to be able to link to this man's parents.
Sorry!! TEresa

RE: Greenwood Memorial Gardens
Sounds great...I'll leave this cemetery in your capable hands! We travel a lot from our home in Greenwood, so we aren't always around to fulfill photo requests, but we're around for a while as my husband recovers from some surgery.

RE: Greenwood Memorial Gardens
The problem with just putting the info in the description, is that many don't read what is there! But maybe by eliminating the "dupe" cemetery, it will become obvious they want the one in Hodges. Someone may again create another "dupe" in Greenwood if they don't realize how large a cemetery it is and that it would already be listed, but we can hope that it doesn't happen again.
I'm working on the long list of photo requests for Greenwood Memorial Gardens...I've asked each requester to call the cemetery and get the burial locations. I have maps of most of the sections and can just go and get the photos without bothering the office. We did the 4 that had burial plots a couple of days ago and it goes fast.

RE: Greenwood Memorial Gardens
Thanks for your help with this. My thought in addition is to put a cross reference of "See Greenwood Memorial Gardens under Hodges, Greenwood, South Carolina" if someone looks for it under Greenwood City.
