Findagrave has their rules and regulations for a reason, if you feel they are to strict or to laxed perhaps this is not the place you need to volunteer your time with. If you want to help them please accept their rules/regulations and stop changing them to benefit yourself or your ways. I try my best to go by the rules, so don't fault me, if it is not the way you want it. Sorry!
Keep in mind, this is not a place for a family tree! It is a tribute to those who have passed on before us, gives relatives a chance to see their family member's graves, and help with family research. If you are asking for transfers just to create a tree, I will not transfer. If it is your goal to maintain memorials of those that are related to you, it goes against what FINDAGRAVE is all about. I will be happy to make all corrections, additions and family links you may have. If you want to be a major part and contribute to FINDAGRAVE, please go out and do the leg work, walk cemeteries, visit newspaper offices, state archives and find where your relatives are buried. They may have an unmarked grave and by doing this you may help another. Just maintaining your relatives memorials is not a contribution. Someone else has already done the leg work.
On all transfer requests, include your relationship to the deceased. Requests will only be processed if they fall within Findagrave guidelines. Please, don't ask if beyond Findagrave quidelines. Request of transfers outside the guidelines will be ignored.
Everyone has their own way when creating memorials. I try my best to go by findagrave rules. Please do not try to get me to do it your way. Not saying it is wrong, just respect the way I do mine. I do not do obits or photos from obits, which are against FAG rules without written permission. I also do not link to unknown burials.
Please do place photos from obituaries on the memorials I create. The rules clearly states "Please do NOT add photographs from obituary notices (unless you, personally took the photo), as they are protected by copyright law. Find A Grave reserves the right to remove obituary notices and photographs from memorial records. Similarly, you may NOT scan an obituary and add it as a photograph to a memorial record." I will refer all photos placed on the memorials I create to the Findagrave admins.
Some things are better left unsaid! So perhaps, I do not reply!
One major rule I see that is often overlooked is this one - (Last Name as you would find it on the tombstone, if the interred had more than one marriage or other possible spellings please place this information in the bio and use the family links. Do not include honorary or other suffixes in the Last Name field.)
Please ask before using my photos. You may do this by using the edit tab on any memorial I have created.
Read the RULES. Final disposition must be determined and updated within 30 days after the creation of a memorial. After the 30 days then the one who does have it in the correct cemetery becomes the original and the other a duplicate.
