"Grandchildren are the dots that connect the lines from generation to generation." Lois Wyse (20th century)|
"Life is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset. What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others." S Pierce in memorial of "Woody" and Wilda Woodward.
I am a grandmother picking up the genealogy work started by my father, mother and uncle. As a member of DAR, I helped with the Centennial Chaper NSDAR project of photographing all the headstones in Weld County Colorado. http://www.coloradodar.org/chapters/centennialstate/cemeteries.html
Now I am combining work and putting my family genealogy (ancestors and descendents) on a data base and reaching out to family via memorials across the nation and around the world and taking photos of cemeteries where I go for others.
If you have a friend or relative in Mountain View, Idaho Veterans Cemetery, Terrace Lawn or Cloverdale Cemetery, Dry Creek or Old Pioneer (Idaho City), I will be glad to take a photo of the headstones for the memorials or transfer memorials that I manage.
If you want to copy any of the photos I have posted, feel free to as long is it is not used for profit.
"Upon my death I authorize any of my memorials to be transferred to any FAG contributor as they are requested."
[thanks to FAG volunteer 47283828 for this statement on their contributor page]
"If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart... i'll always be with you."

Thanks for the death info update. I had the draft registration card but didn't think that the memorial was the appropriate spot for it. Are you related? I have a photo of Peter.

I posted a picture of the headstone but her death date had not been added. I will keeping checking when I am out there and replace when the date is added. You don't need to re-request as I will follow up on this.

I do not know who puts out the flowers. This is only the second time I've visited this cemetery (it's about a 25 minute drive from my house).

Oops, sorry, didn't notice that one is father and one son.

Noticed that tour memorial duplicates an earlier one. Also, there is a headstone.

I think the location is what makes this grave special. I like the concept of a "creek bed" rather than a "ditch". I've been to the cemetery twice, and both times there were flowers on the grave. Maybe I'll get another picture when things are green...this cemetery is on my "to do" list. Thanks again for the history - I'll make sure others around here know of it.

I took a long view photo of that lone grave out there in Valley View in St. Marys, KS. Do you have any clues why he is way out there and everyone else is buried on the other side of the "ditch"? You'll see that they go out and mow a nice wide swath. Maybe the ditch wasn't always there.... oh well, interesting to speculate...

Your photos for the Spurlock boys were added to the page of Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs. Thank you for sharing them! So nice to bring names to life.
Do you know when the photo of the homestead, with several boys on horseback, was taken and where? I am researching some old homesteads in Pueblo County, on what is now Fort Carson, and wonder if this is their Colorado homestead, or a later residence.
