My interest in findagrave started when I worked on a family tree for my husband. We found some of his relatives and where they are buried through this site. It was comforting to look at their headstones and imagine what life was like for them more than 200 years ago.
I would like to thank all the volunteers for their time and effort in photographing and documenting the grave sites. I was so impressed with their work that now I am a volunteer and I enjoy spending my free time at the cemeteries documenting headstones of which some, unfortunetly, will be totaly unreadable in a few years.
In photographing cemeteries I noticed some of the older, hard to read headstones have been scratched to try and make out a name or date. I DO NOT alter the headstones in any way, instead, I take several photos from different angels to try to read them.
If you find any mistakes, please contact me. I am not perfect and do make mistakes and when they are pointed out to me I gladly make the correction.
Any photo from a cemetery that I've posted at Find-A-Grave may be used for family trees, personal use, etc.

|Gary G. Rowden||Hanley Family of Whistler, Mobile, AL|
Monika, I have been working on my Rowden family tree since 1998 and only within the past two days have uncovered a vast treasure of people that had been totally unknown to us previously. Charles L Hanley, buried in Whistler Cem, was my paternal step grandfather. Slowly I have been piecing the puzzle part together from totally incorrect info to reality. I was led to believe that another Charles Hanley who died in 1929 in Little Rock was my Charles, not so. Here is why I am contacting you - read your bio and appreciate the work you do for others. I need to be pointed to a local source for further research into my newly found family. I see the James F Hanley Sr burial in Catholic Cem but can't figure out the relationship to our gg grandfather buried in Whistler Cem. Thanks for any assist you can render.

The Finnegan Plot was damaged during the tornado of 2012. My cousin and I were there last spring, 2015, and it was still in the same state. What do you know about what has been done, what will be done, etc. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks, Wanda Baldridge

I wonder if I might ask you to turn over maintenance of my grandfather Richard Harold Leo Spencer (87461651) to me. He was my mother's father. I have found his 8 sibs, as you see, but I have a lot of original Spencer material to add, and it's going to be hard if I don't have direct control. I promise to leave it in much better condition than I found it!
