I started going to cemeteries in geneology searches. As I went thru the cemeteries I realized how much the stones wear down (and all the other factors - cemeteries not being kept up, vandalism, etc) and that someday you wouldn't be able to read those stones.|
I also realized what great things people were doing by taking pics, and volunteering to take pics, for people who were looking for their family and couldn't get to the area.
So...I starting taking pictures myself. Now that we have digital cameras all it costs me is my time. And the results are great...people find family they're looking for and most importantly, those that were buried in the cemetery and the stones were put up for are not forgotten.

|Grave Wanderer||Newkerks and Carriers|
In my amateur research I've come across Helen Carrier, daughter of Flavius. She married Jacob Newkerk.
Ring any bells?
Thanks for the encouragement; eventually I will make it to upstate NY!

Thanks for adding all of your wonderful pictures to the existing memorials for this family. You did a lot of work. I live quite the distance from NY and eventually I'll see these gravestones of my family in person. In the meantime, I have your pictures to look at.
I hope the contributor who put up the many Newkerk memorials, but misspelled the last name will see my edits shortly!
Thank you again.

What a fantastic job you have done !! I can add a little to this George Luce as he was my 4C2R. His wife was Lydia Benton, his parents were Rev. Eleazer Luce 1790-1843 & Betsey Howell 1794-1855. I can take his lineage back to 1640 if anyone is interested. Beverly Luce Walker firstname.lastname@example.org

|Ian Z.||re: Mary M. McKee in Cortland Rural Cemetery|
Hi. First off, thanks very much for your posting of the McKee's from the Cortland Rural Cemetery. But I have a question. It is my understanding that the Mary M. McKee listed there was the wife of Frank W. McKee, not the wife of his brother Robert B. McKee. Do you have different data from the cemetery information?
